vipco 17th July 2008 12:04 AM

Do any of you guys back up certain films.?

Some films I have 2 or 3 originals or 1 original and a couple of CD-R back ups with jackets.
I've the uncensored original of ISOYG (elite) and 2 back up's plus 2 different UK versions. Same with my Cannibal and Zombie dvds.
Im a bit OCD ish about certain films and get several versions of each plus a few back ups.

Anyone else like this.?

Halloween_22 17th July 2008 03:14 PM

I'm kind of like that aswell Vipco. I've never gotten round to backing up any of my films as of yet but I've got some old videos I really should back up onto dvd, they aren't gonna last forever. But as for getting multiple copies of films, yeah, i'm really bad for that. If I see a copy of a film I already own and it's got a different cover that I like then I'll usually buy it, It's kind of a waste of money really especially when I could be buying stuff I don't already own but I just can't help it sometimes.

I think i've got something like 6 different versions of the First 'Evil Dead' and four or five of 'Halloween' and 'Zombie Flesh Eaters', their the most extreme examples :)

cloud 17th July 2008 05:18 PM

Hey gax, is there an alternate title for "Spaceship The Take Off" as that one looks quite jolly!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 17th July 2008 05:19 PM

Certain films I 'collect' for example,
TENEBRAE-4 VERSIONS
THE WICKER MAN-6 VERSIONS
TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE-3 VERSIONS
EVIL DEAD-4 VERSIONS
I'll post some pics..........

I'm going to show my mates your pics, Philleh. I get endlessly mocked for being OCD about collecting DVDs and I don't even have a fraction of the collection you have!

Philleh 21st July 2008 02:39 PM

The way I justify it is like so:

How many movies get made globally per annum? - Now times that by 100.

I'm way off having that many films!!! ha ha.

siccoyote 21st July 2008 03:50 PM

I just did a search on the imdb:

Films released in 2007
With a Rating of 6 or more (meaning pretty decent)
With over 500 votes (to weed out obscurities)
Total = 362

I only managed to watch under 220 films in 2007 and I was trying, and then there's the 100 year backlog.

How am I supposed to watch all the good films?

Philleh 21st July 2008 05:17 PM

With advances in modern technology, and if your wealthy, it's not naive to think you won't live till 300 - 340. That should help! :p

vipco 22nd July 2008 10:37 AM

How many films would anyone watch on a typical month ?.
And how many films would you buy in a typical month.?

siccoyote 22nd July 2008 11:18 AM

A Typical month I'd try to watch at least 10
I'll probably buy about 12 in a typical month.

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 27th July 2008 05:48 PM

I try to watch a film (at least one) every night, if i CAN!

I LUV FILM!

Ok, so here's my VIPCO collection (pic should be attached if i've done it right) - quite a few missing but will hopefully track them down at some point. Anyone else got the limited edition numbered box set? Think only 5000 were produced.

cloud 2nd August 2008 12:19 PM

What's in that set? The Burning, The Mutilator and...?

trench 2nd August 2008 12:26 PM

Shogun Assassin.

I had it! but had to take it back as only Shogun Assassin worked! lol. MVC (that's how long ago it was!) didn't have any more copies so I had my 60 sheets back!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 6th August 2008 06:49 PM

That's right MVC was a good place for the old VIPCO titles....the boxset I never bothered with as I had the individual releases....sells for daft money now...

threshzombie 6th August 2008 07:01 PM

What ever happened to MVC? Remember picking up a few VIPCO's in there, including that box set!

bedorca 6th August 2008 07:06 PM

MVC went down the financial toilet a while back. I blame the net personally :(

Loved that "get a quid off if you are a member" double price tag

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 6th August 2008 07:12 PM

Yeah was sad to see MVC go 'bogside'.....the Falkirk branch was well stocked up on ALL horror labels.....HMV opening in the same mall was the final nail in the coffin.....
Wonder how you would've fared in MVC Almar?-Bet youd've done alright....:)
