Deep End is one of my favourites (and a general favourite among most Flipside fans) from the collection, so I'd say it would be a safe bet.

The collection is quite diverse, although all concentrate on obscure/buried/controversial British cinema mainly from the 1960s and 1970s.

I have most of the titles from the series and would recommend them all to some degree, however the below are my favourites:

The Bed Sitting Room
Deep End
Duffer / The Moon Over the Alley
Little Malcolm
Nightbirds
Requiem for a Village
Schalcken the Painter
Sleepwalker

There's some discussion on some of the releases in the BFI thread here too.

The cover of Requiem for a Village has intrigued me since it came out but I never bought it. I might start a collection and get one each month, I'll start with Deep End and go from there though!

Arrow's "Reform School Girls"

Am I right in thinking it's a vanilla release?

It is.

You'd be better getting the Boulevard release which has a commentary from the director and some comedian or other. It's pretty good.

Have a snapshot of the extras on said Boulevard release.

If you can play region 1 dvd's i'd go for this release.

Fraternity Vacation & Reform School Girls DVD 1985 Region 1 US Import NTSC: Amazon.co.uk: DVD & Blu-ray

It's the same as the Boulevard release (Boulevard just ported this one in it's entirety ) plus you get an extra film.

And new for just under £6 delivered.

If you haven't seen it. It's a lot of fun.

Sadly, we can't

I was led to believe that the Blu-Ray player I got was a multi-region thing, but it turned out to be a basic region 'B'/'2' thing

Is it not hackable Susan? There aren't many players that can't be made multiregion for dvd at least.
