Back on topic, I am going to buy the films in the 'Marvel universe' so I can watch them in the order in which events take place. However, The Avengers/Avengers Assemble is digitally manipulated in the UK to tone down some of the bloody affects. As it is cheaper and the US Blu-ray Disc is difficult to buy, it is the one I (begrudgingly) bought.

Is it worth putting in the extra effort and money to get the uncut version, or is it just a marginal improvement over the 12 certificate/PG-13 version?

Although i can't answer your question regarding the best version i'd like to say that i watched then in order including the series Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD and found my enjoyment greatly enhanced because of it.

If it's any help this is the running order.

Captain America The First Avenger
Agent Carter
Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Agents of SHIELD Episodes 1-7
Thor 2: The Dark World
Agents of SHIELD Episodes 8-16
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Agents of SHIELD Episodes 17-22
Guardians of the Galaxy
Agents of SHIELD Season 2, Episodes 1-19
Avengers: Age of Ultron

I already have the order saved in a document on my computer. I wasn't sure whether to buy Agents of SHIELD (I haven't seen that, Agent Carter, or Jessica Jones yet) – do the TV episodes make a great deal of difference to understanding/appreciating the films?

No, not really. However Agent Carter does enhance the ideas in the first Capt America film and sort of link to the first Iron Man.

Episode 17 of SHIELD begins in London with the clean up operation following The Winter Soldier.

I enjoyed both series very much.

Thanks. I'll buy the films first and then consider the TV shows, probably beginning with Agent Carter.

I'd consider myself middle aged, I genuinely didn't take offence, I just don't agree. I'm of the generation that grew up with Scream and Dawson's Creek, there was a trend to over articulate. I may not understand how they wear their jeans, but I genuinely admire that the current generation are looking for ways to simply express things that aren't in the slightest bit simple. It doesn't make a difference to me whether it was an ancient colloquialism or modern slang, it summed up succinctly what I wanted to express. Occasionally I don't always have the time to type more. It's startling how many modern slang terms end up in the dictionary these days, feels could well become one, rendering the whole conversation null.

Should mention other characters from Capt America show up in Agent Carter such as Neal McDonough and his crew and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark who has a large role.

It was not my intention to appear condescending or patronising and, if it came across that way, I sincerely apologise.

As for the English language evolving, I completely agree, and it is a mix of French, Latin, Germanic, Scandinavian, and other languages from around the world. The language will have to evolve – and always has done – to account for technological and cultural changes, with selfie and twerk being recent examples. It is possible, as you say, that the new definition of the word 'feels' could be in a future update of the OED.

As I mentioned to Dem, I genuinely didn't take any offence. It's not really my generation to take offence for. Likewise, I certainly didn't attempt to come across as condescending or patronising either, I just intended to express my opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree, it'd be a boring place if we all did. Honestly, at expressing a preference to Italian Gothic over Hammer's Gothic horror, I expected more derision quite frankly. You've all let me down.

While Hammer were definitely more consistent, to me its pinnacle (of the movies I've seen), The Devil Rides Out, doesn't quite reach the highs of Black Sunday, and maybe one or two others. But my adoration of Black Sunday isn't necessarily something I believe that can be wholly contextualised, it's an ethereal feeling, but even that doesn't do it justice.

It's literally one shot in one scene where Loki stabs someone with his staff - it's not worth the effort importing if you can get it easier in the UK - not in my opinion anyway.
