Favourite Non-Horror movies of the EIGHTIES! There were a lot of brilliant non horror movies in the eighties. Gangsters made a comeback,De Niro seemed unstoppable, the teen-coming-of age sex comedy made it's mark, almost as the natural progressor to the teen in jeopardy film,ie the slasher..... Pacino turned Cuban, then gay...... Schwarzenegger's lines became more frequent.... Ford progressed from Han Solo to Dr Jones,John Book and dreaming of electric sheep.... Golan and Globus made an icon of Chuck Norris and gave the world the ninja en-masse....... A balding rom com star donned a dirty-bloody vest and upped the action ante...... A Welshman started to star in more and more prolific roles....... A director named Rob Reiner gave us two belters.... Yoda died! Vader died! And not unlike real life,a farmer was left better off than anyone! Uncle Sam went anti-communist daft, with everyone from Rambo, high school kids to Bruce Lee's ghost kicking some Commie ass, whilst their President quoted Inspector Callahan and John J! Britain gave us Puttnam....Chariots.....Killing Fields... and Sly Stallone was sitting on top of the world! Discuss your 1980's faves here!

Excellent list, bizarre_eye. I'll have to have a thing, look through my collection and check the dates before listing them here. To be continued...

Even though I love the 1970s, I was born in the 1980s so have a huge affinity for some of the films produced in that particular decade, as I grew up with them. I'm slightly annoyed that my Krull poster attachment hasn't shown up, though... Last edited by bizarre_eye@Cult Labs; 10th August 2011 at 07:38 AM. |

Commando The ultimate no gimmick (ie no sci-fi) action film. And no one has mentioned it yet. WTF? |
