It's one i'd like to see too. I quite liked the original film, never bothered with the Winona Ryder one though.

The problem with 'Cats' is that it is unfilmable

The stage show, which is very good I hasten to add, is nothing more than a series of songs and dances based around the poems of TS Eliot. It is sang-through, with no spoken dialogue at all. With the exception of the first four songs (The Overture / Prologue: Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats / The Naming of Cats / The Invitation to the Jellicle Ball) and the last three (Memory / The Journey to the Heaviside Layer / The Ad-Dressing of Cats), everything inbetween can be played in any order, with no loss to the story

To place a narrative on the story is making additional work! It *may* have worked as an animated feature, which is what Spielberg wanted to do in the 1980's, but a new live action thing is pretty much redundant due to the fact that there has already been a DTDVD release of the filmed stage show in 1998

No doubt I will get a copy of the new version when it is released, but whether I watch it more than once remains to be be seen

I love how the final paragraph really goes clutching for straws by mentioning The Greatest Showman...a film which ended up a worldwide phenomenon. :xmasnuts:

The cats look so damn creepy more disturbing than anything I've seen in horror films.

Evil Dead (2013) is classed as Evil Dead 4 because it’s in the same universe and not a remake

Seemed like a remake to me.
