‘Hereditary’ Star Ann Dowd Joins the First Movie in Blumhouse’s ‘The Exorcist’ Trilogy / Bloody Disgusting

"One of the next big horror franchises to get the reboot treatment is The Exorcist, with David Gordon Green (Halloween Ends) directing a brand new sequel for Universal, Blumhouse and Morgan Creek that will pave the way for a planned trilogy. The Hollywood Reporter states that Ann Dowd (Hereditary) is the latest actor to join the cast of the upcoming The Exorcist sequel.

Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton, Knives Out 2) will star in the new Exorcist trilogy, the first of which is confirmed to be directed by Gordon Green. And Ellen Burstyn is back as Chris MacNeil.

The first film in the trilogy will be released theatrically on October 13, 2023.

The first plot details we were provided with last year tease, “Odom Jr. will play the father of a possessed child. Desperate for help, he tracks down Ms. Burstyn’s character.”."

That's very true – his character wouldn't need much (if any) introduction. Also, with Christian Bale's Dark Knight, Keaton's 'Caped Crusader' is one of the best cinematic representations of Batman.

Additionally, I find it hard to believe that a film starring Michael Keaton, J.K. Simmons, and Brendan Fraser, and made by the people behind Ms Marvel, could be so bad it's "irredeemable".

Really seems more going on behind the scenes at Warner brothers shows and films being cancelled left and right and now rumors they are scrapping some streaming services.

Also can't see batgirl being any where as bad as munsters looks from its trailer at Netflix bought that really stupid to not try to make some of that 60 million back.

Might be interesting, never saw the sequel and really don't fancy watching it either

Margot Robbie as Harley was the best thing DC have come up with since Pfeiffer's Catwoman. Why on earth would they swap her for Lady Gaga?

I suppose if it's like Joker (which i haven't seen) it may be going down the 'serious' route which Robbie's Harley clearly isn't.

I thought she was excellent in Bradley Cooper's adaptation of A Star Is Born and has the talent to be a very interesting and engaging Harley Quinn.

I hope the character is as well-developed and fascinating as Arthur Fleck was in Joker.

I see that the BBFC have upgraded 'Watership Down' from a 'U' certificate to a 'PG' certificate for its 2022 cinema re-release
