Bruce Campbell Says That ‘Evil Dead Rise’ Will Take Place in New Zealand
written by Trey Hilburn III

Evil Dead

Our boy, Bruce Campbell has been a busy bee. Just yesterday, we reported that his cameo in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is most likely complete due to some cryptic clues that Campbell Tweeted. Now, Campbell has spilled the evil beans and let us know that the next Evil Dead film, titled Evil Dead Rise will take place in New Zealand.

“it’s out of the woods.” Campbell told Knox News.

That means that the next entry in the franchise will take place in the woods as well as an urban setting. Last year, Campbell had spilled earlier evil beans that said that the Evil Dead Rise will take place in the city and that the deadites would be fully unleashed.

Now, this means that the next film will follow in the footsteps of Ash Vs. Evil Dead which was also filmed in New Zealand. The aesthetic worked, even when the team had to build the original cabin that that Ash and Co. had to revisit to thwart off the deadites.

Any bit of news we can get for Evil Dead Rise is indeed exciting. Outside of this not much about the plot of the film is known at this point other than that director of The Hole in the Ground and 50 States of Fright will direct with Raimi, Rob Tapert and Campbell on as producers.

Documentary ‘The Complete History of Candyman’ Explores the Franchise Later This Year [Trailer]Published 3 hours ago on March 3, 2021 By John Squires

While we continue waiting for Nia DaCosta’s Candyman, currently set for theatrical release on August 27, 2021, we’ve learned that a Candyman documentary is also on the way.

Written and directed by Bryn Hammond, the documentary will explore the Tony Todd-starring movie franchise that was born out of Clive Barker‘s original story, “The Forbidden.”

The press release explains, “The Complete History of Candyman begins with a modest overview of the heyday of the horror genre and its sharp decline, solely down to the responsibility of the decay of the slasher sub-genre, when all of Hollywood, from the sleaziest independent backstreet butcher to the highest-paid studio executive, was greenlighting any film that featured a masked psychopath, scores of 30 + something teenagers with a half decent set of lungs, an ample array of ways to die and, in the best of both worlds, all three.

“It’s succinct view tours through Hollywood’s changing landscape and horror’s renaissance, during which the horror genre returned to producing critically and commercially successful horror films, much as it did during the era known as the Golden Age of slashers, which peaked between 1978 and 1984.

“Candyman History comes full circle by analyzing the symbiotic relationship between the horror genre and the African-American experience, and how Spike Lee’s masterpiece, Do the Right Thing, became the bracing model for how the studio system packaged contemporary racial issues in a manner that startlingly respects the ability of viewers to think for themselves, leading to the birth of Bernard Rose’s Candyman (the two are inextricably linked) and its sequels.

“The Complete History of Candyman delves into the original trilogy that ran from 1992 to 1999, based on the short story The Forbidden by Clive Barker, that by turns utilized the embodiment of fearmongering seen in Do the Right Thing, but by turning it into a literal bogeyman in the deprived Cabrini-Green area of Chicago. It uses elements of social criticism and the great rot of social housing, while posing the question “Does God exist?”, all through the eyes of the film’s protagonist, which allows the viewers a bizarre tour de force of the harsh reality that results when stereotypes applied to black people are believed en masse.

“The Complete History of Candyman presents an in-depth investigation into the series, the author and the up-and-coming Jordan Peele reboot from brand new and archival interviews from scholars and creators, from the voices who survived the genre’s past trends to those shaping its future.”

The plan is to release the documentary this coming Spring/Summer.

"The continued desire for horror content and our own creative bankrupcy and inability to come up with new ideas is what this made the perfect time to rehash yet another 80s movie."

District 9 sequel,

https://www.ihorror.com/a-district-9...eb5Kg2P9irxuHk

A ‘District 9’ Sequel is Being Written by Neill Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell

District 9 is in the works from Neill Blomkamp. The 2009 sci-fi social commentary heavy film, was unlike anything audiences had seen before. The wide-open ending left plenty of room for a sequel. So, fans have waited over a decade for Blomkamp to return to District 9 and it looks like he is finally getting to work on a screenplay.

Blomkamp himself took to Twitter to share the good word by letting fans know that him along with Sharlto Copley and Terri Tatchell are all involved in a script for the aptly titled District 10.

If you recall the first film ended with Wikus totally transformed into a tragic alien who longed for his wife and was last seen in junk yards making his her origami roses. Pretty dang sad. It also ended with Christopher and his adorable little son taking control of their ship, that had remained stationary above Johannesburg for years following its arrival in 1982.

Meanwhile, the aliens that were left as residents of District 9 were moved and repurposed to their new home of District 10. The big mystery we were left with at the end was, would the aliens come back and exact revenge on humans for being so cruel to their entire species? Or, would they come back peacefully to give their family a ride back to their home? Either way, the story already sounds ****in’ fantastic.

District 9 played with very real themes of very real places and race relations in those areas. Blomkamp has been quoted stating that he wants District 10 to also carry similar social commentary and not lose the original message.

Personally, if I was Christopher and his little alien child, I would be coming back with a fleet and I would be pissed and fully armed. They were treated terribly during their time on Earth. So, again if it was me – humans would be in trouble I would get my folks out and then take the Ellen Ripley advice from Aliens and Nuke em from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

VAMPIRELLA FEATURE FILM AND VAMPIRELLA UNIVERSE TV SHOWS IN THE WORKS

https://www.joblo.com/horror-movies/...s-in-the-works

Back in 1969, Famous Monsters of Filmland's legendary editor/writer Forrest J. Ackerman teamed up with Trina Robbins to create the comic book character Vampirella, and more than fifty years later that character is still having adventures on the page. Soon she'll be having more adventures on the screen as well - Dynamite Entertainment and Mike The Pike Productions' Arowana Media Holdings have announced they've struck a deal to make a Vampirella feature film. A deal has also been closed for "the TV rights to characters and stories within the Vampirella Universe".

Mark Newbauer of Mike The Pike will produce the Vampirella film with Nick Barrucci and Dynamite's Juan Collado.

Newbauer released the following statement:

We are thrilled with the opportunity to bring this amazing character to screen in a big way. Nick Barucci, founder and CEO of the prolific Dynamite Comics, is an incredible visionary with an eye for story, and a talent for integration into the zeitgeist. [Barucci] and everyone at Dynamite have resurrected this character in a significant way over the past decade. We are truly grateful for the faith and support of Dynamite, Nick, and their reps, including producer/manager Ford Gilmore of Illuminati Entertainment."

Here's some information on Vampirella:

While facing Dracula and other creatures, Vampirella met and romanced Adam van Helsing, the son of monster hunter Conrad van Helsing. She also made allies including the werepanther, Pantha, and a washed up magician named Pendragon. Of course, Vampirella is also famous for her distinctive one-piece costume; which still endures in her modern Dynamite adventures.

Her origin has been switched up a few times, but here's how it started:

Vampirella originally hailed from the planet Drakulon, a world where blood flowed like water and where the natives, called the Vampiri, shared traditionally vampiric characteristics. Drakulon orbited a binary star which caused continuous droughts throughout the year. Unfortunately for the Vampiri, these droughts have gradually dried up their blood supply; threatening them with extinction. Vampirella's journey begins when an American space shuttle crashes on Drakulon. Hoping to save her people, she travels to Earth where she begins hunting dark remnants of her own race. Earth's vampires originate from Dracula, a forgotten member of the Vampiri race who left his homeworld centuries ago only to be corrupted by the demonic entity known as Chaos.

Vampirella was previously brought to the screen in a 1996 movie that was produced by Roger Corman, directed by Jim Wynorski, and starred Talisa Soto as the title character

Mortal Kombat’: New Look at the Evil Shang Tsung in This Year’s “Unapologetically Brutal” MoviePublished 11 hours ago on March 5, 2021 By John Squires

We’re just over one month away from the release of WB & New Line’s Mortal Kombat feature film, which is rated “R” and promises to load up on iconic characters and gory fatalities. The trailer, which debuted a few weeks back, quickly became the most-viewed Red Band movie trailer of all time, suggesting fans are very, very excited about the potential for this one.

Speaking with Total Film (via Games Radar) this week, director Simon McQuoid teases the “unapologetic” brutality of his upcoming Mortal Kombat movie, while also providing us with a brand new image of actor Chin Han as Outworld’s Emperor, Shang Tsung.

“It’s unapologetically brutal,” McQuoid promises. “We spent a lot of time talking about blood and what it looks like, but we just wanted to do it in a smart way. We have to make it mean something and we have to make you care. When we need to push it to 10 we definitely pushed it to 10, so there was no one shying away from that.”

He continues, “And there’s one moment I saw today that had me leaping for joy. It’s like Christmas morning every day in the editing suite at the moment – I go in and the effects company have revved everything up… I just can’t wait for you all to see it.”

Mortal Kombat will be in theaters and streaming on HBO Max on April 16.

MOVIESJapanese Horror Manga ‘Hellsing’ Getting a Film Adaptation From Amazon and ‘John Wick’ Writer

The action-horror manga Hellsing is headed to the big screen, Deadline has announced, with Amazon Studios developing an adaptation being penned by Derek Kolstad (John Wick)!

The feature will bring Kouta Hirano‘s Japanese manga into the world of live-action. The manga was previously turned into anime series’ “Hellsing” and “Hellsing Ultimate.”

“Ever since my brother introduced me to the Hellsing manga and anime some years ago, I’ve been obsessed with adapting it,” Kolstad said in a statement shared by Deadline today.

“Hellsing reimagines Dracula as Alucard, a special agent bound to The Hellsing Organization, under the leadership of Integra Hellsing, great-granddaughter of Abraham Van Hellsing, to aid them in their mission to protect England and the world from vampires, ghouls, and other supernatural threats. The manga also focuses on Hellsing’s newest recruit, a female ex-police officer named Seras Victoria.”

Mike Callaghan of production company Ranger 7 Films said, “I’ve always loved the vampire genre, especially when a creator is able to put their own unique spin on it, so when Derek introduced me to Alucard and the Hellsing Organization, I knew we had something special in that tradition. Kouta Hirano’s gonzo reimagining of the Dracula-Van Helsing mythology is an exhilarating, quirky mashup of action and horror that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. We are incredibly excited to partner with Brian and Fred at Automatik and that Amazon is on board to help us bring the wit and madness of Hellsing to life on screen.”

Filming Evil dead 4 starts.

Evil Dead 4 Starts Filming This Year Confirms Bruce Campbell
Bruce Campbell, who starred as the iconic Ash Williams in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy, reveals that Evil Dead Rise will start shooting this year.

Bruce Campbell, who starred as the iconic Ash Williams in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy, revealed that Evil Dead Rise will start shooting this year. The original 1981 Evil Dead was a low budget horror film written and directed by Raimi (serving as his feature-debut) and starred Campbell. The film followed a group of teens heading for a short vacation in a remote cabin. The kids end up inadvertently summoning an army of Deadites, ancient demons that can possess the living. Raimi would follow up the film with Evil Dead 2 (1987) and Army of Darkness (1992). In 2015, a television series was released, titled, Ash vs. Evil Dead. The series ran for 3 seasons on STARZ. The Evil Dead films have received critical acclaim and are often cited as some of the greatest horror movies ever made.

Rumors of a potential Evil Dead 4 have existed since the release of Army of Darkness. In 2013, a remake of the original film was released, although the character of Ash was not the film's protagonist and Campbell was relegated to a post-credit cameo. Both Raimi and Fede Alvarez, who directed the remake, stated that the intention was to crossover the characters from the 2013 with Ash in a future sequel. That theatrical follow-up never ended up happening. However, during the summer of 2020, Campbell revealed that a new Evil Dead film was in the works, although Ash wouldn't make an appearance. The film's title was eventually revealed as Evil Dead Rise.

Speaking to Knox News, Campbell revealed that Evil Dead Rise is set to begin filming later this year. Campbell, who serves as producer on the film, stated that he'll be heading down to New Zealand for the shoot (which was where Ash vs. Evil Dead was also shot). While Campbell had to remain tight-lipped about the film's plot, he did mention that "it's out of the woods," which falls in line with his previous statements about the film taking place in an urban setting.

Evil Dead Rise is set to be directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground), who was hand-picked by Raimi. Campbell has also spoken about the direction that the film aims to go in, stating that Evil Dead Rise will star a heroine, whose chief aim is to save her family during a Deadite invasion. Campbell emphasized the importance of placing everyday people in extraordinary circumstances, and the most powerful horror comes from the fact that the situation is very much out of their control.

Campbell's words should ease the fears Evil Dead fans may feel about the film's production potentially getting delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Between vaccine rollouts, and the fact that the film is shooting in New Zealand (which has some of the lowest COVID cases in the world), Evil Dead Rise's production start date is likely pretty safe. While the lack of Ash Williams will disappoint some, a new, fresh take on the decades-old franchise will surely be interesting. We will continue to hear more about the film as Evil Dead Rise begins production later this year.

The Munsters Movie Coming from Rob Zombie and Universal
Rumor is Rob Zombie will write and direct The Munsters, a new movie based on the classic sitcom, with Sheri Moon Zombie playing Lily.

Rob Zombie has reportedly been hired by Universal Pictures to direct a new movie based on the classic comedy series The Munsters. Murphy's Multiverse reports that the House of 1000 Corpses director will write and direct the new movie adaptation with production scheduled to begin in Budapest in early May. As of now, neither Zombie nor Universal has yet officially commented on the rumors.

Per the report, Rob Zombie has also called upon some of his frequent collaborators to play main roles in the rumored movie. His real-life wife and consistent lead star Sheri Moon Zombie has reportedly been cast as Lily Munster, the matriarch of the family, while The Lords of Salem and 3 from Hell star Jeff Daniel Phillips will play her husband Herman. Daniel Roebuck and Richard Brake, two other actors who often appear in Zombie's movies, have also been cast in undisclosed roles alongside Jorge Garcia (Lost) and Cassandra Peterson (Elvira, Mistress of the Dark).

Because Zombie's movies are known for their vulgarity and excessive violence, the director might seem like an odd choice as the right filmmaker to reimagine The Munsters. However, his fandom and appreciation of the classic sitcom are very well documented. As a musician, he has previously covered the show's iconic theme song and his popular song "Dragula" is a direct reference to the series. Howard Stern has also described Zombie as a Munsters superfan, revealing in January that the 3 from Hell director gifted him with a Herman Munster puppet.

Developed by Norm Liebmann and Ed Haas, The Munsters originally aired for 70 episodes between 1964 and 1966. Despite its short run, the show later found a new life with much greater popularity through airing the old episodes in syndication. The original cast featured Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily, Al Lewis as Grandpa, Butch Patrick as Eddie, and Pat Priest and Beverly Owen sharing the role of Marilyn. Mel Blanc and Bob Hastings also voiced The Raven.

In the late 80s and early 90s, a new cast also brought back the old characters in the sequel TV series The Munsters Today. Several movies featuring several members of the original cast would also be released over the years, including Munster, Go Home! in 1966, The Mini-Munsters in 1973, Here Comes the Munsters in 1995, and The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas in 1996. Both the Wayans brothers and Seth Meyers have been attached to planned movie reboots at various points, but neither project ever came to fruition.

In 2012, NBC put in an attempt to revive the show with a reboot dubbed Mockingbird Lane, a reference to the Munster family's address at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Presented as a one-hour Halloween special, the show was developed by Bryan Fuller and starred Jerry O'Connell and Portia de Rossi. Ultimately, the network decided to pass on ordering the special to series.

The Munsters does not yet have a release date as Universal has not yet confirmed the movie's production. This information was first published at Murphy's Multiverse.

Michael B. Jordan to Make Directorial Debut With ‘Creed III,’ Set for Thanksgiving 2022 Release

Michael B. Jordan will pull double duty on the newest “Creed” installment, starring in and directing “Creed III.”
MGM announced today that Jordan will make his directorial debut with the new film, which is set to be released in theaters on Nov. 23, 2022. Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad are expected to return for the third installment, written by Keenan Coogler (“Space Jam: A New Legacy”) and Zach Baylin (“King Richard”), based on an outline by Ryan Coogler.

“Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right. ‘Creed III’ is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment,” Jordan said in a statement.

MOVIESWillem Dafoe and Emma Stone in Talks for ‘Frankenstein’-Esque ‘Poor Things’ from Yorgos Lanthimos

Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (The Killing of a Sacred Deer) is next set to adapt Alasdair Gray’s 1992 book Poor Things for the screen, a Frankenstein-esque tale that now has two big names in talks to star. Deadline reports this week that Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse) and Emma Stone (Cruella) are in talks to headline the cast of Searchlight and Film4’s movie.

Deadline details, “The film will be a Victorian tale of love, discovery and scientific daring. Poor Things tells the incredible story of Belle Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by an eccentric but brilliant scientist.”

“The main body of the work centres on Bella Baxter, a woman whose early life and identity are the subject of some ambiguity. That ambiguity is complicated by her husband Archibald McCandless’s autobiography, “Episodes from the Early Life of a Scottish Public Health Officer,” which distorts the truth about his life with Bella. This is followed by Bella’s (or Victoria’s) refutation of its facts, suggesting that her “poor fool” of a husband has concocted a life for her from the prevailing gothic and romantic motifs of the period: it “positively stinks of all that was morbid in that most morbid of centuries”. This is reinforced by the novel’s intricate echoes of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

“These fictitious historical documents are prefaced with an introduction by one Alasdair Gray, who presents himself as the editor of the following text, and relates the ‘discovery’ of the papers by his real-life friends, Michael Donnelly and Elspeth King. The introduction also hosts a critique of Glasgow City Council’s treatment of its culture and heritage in the neglect of the local history museum, and a brief mention of Glasgow’s time as the European Capital of Culture in 1990, which would be the subject of a more sustained satire in his novel Something Leather.”

ATTACK THE BLOCK SEQUEL: JOE CORNISH & JOHN BOYEGA WORKING ON FOLLOW-UP

Attack the Block, John Boyega, Joe Cornish

Ten years ago today, Attack the Block premiered at the SXSW festival and writer/director Joe Cornish had no idea how the audience would react. "We hadn't really shown it to a broad audience, let alone an American-international audience," Cornish told Entertainment Weekly recently. "So, for me, it was a shot in the dark. I remember having no idea how people would react to it at all. When I showed it to the cast, they just laughed because they were so tickled by seeing themselves onscreen, pretending to be these characters. They just spent the whole film laughing and I was like, that's not how you're supposed to react! So, that was a bit weird. I had no idea what the response was going to be [at SXSW]. No idea at all." The sci-fi horror comedy followed a teenage gang in South London (led by a young John Boyega) as they're forced to defend their block from an alien invasion.

Attack the Block wound up becoming a cult classic, and fans have eagerly been awaiting any news of a possible sequel. Well, when asked by Entertainment Weekly if there was any chance of revisiting the Attack the Block universe, Joe Cornish said, "We're working on it at the moment. John Boyega was round at my place a few weeks ago and we sat in the garden — socially distanced — talking about story ideas until it was so dark we couldn't see each other. So, yeah, we're working on that." Who knows whether a sequel to Attack the Block will actually materialize, but it's a project that both Joe Cornish and John Boyega have remained passionate about over the past decade.

This isn't the first time that Joe Cornish has teased a potential Attack the Block sequel, as he told the Script Apart podcast last year that John Boyega and himself have "had ideas [for a sequel] since after the first one, but obviously we’ve both been busy doing different things. In a weird way, kinda, the longer you leave it the more interesting it is. So that’s what I’ll say." The film remains a favourite of mine, particularly it's unique aliens (the big alien gorilla wolf motherf**kers), and I would absolutely welcome a sequel.

A musician who has been having visions of morphing into some sort of wolf-like beast is invited to a secluded music studio. Her new songs, along with her new music producer start to bring out the beast within her.

A female-led Canadian werewolf film, pretty sure the last time we heard that was Ginger Snaps and that still holds up pretty well to this day.

Directed by Amelia Moses, written by Wendy Hill-Tout, Lowell and starring Lauren Beatty, Greg Bryk & Katharine King So

Upcoming Werewolf Movies – Eight for Silver (no poster available)

EIGHT FOR SILVER

A werewolf film from writer/director Sean Ellis ( Metro Manila, Anthropoid). Metro Manila was such a great film, a superb human drama about desperation and how far you will go to support & provide for the ones you love. I highly recommend you guys check that out if you haven’t seen it. Now, back to the werewolves

Ellis’ werewolf movie Eight for Silver is said to **** with the genre a little bit and bend some of the werewolves rules that we have grown custom to. The story of a pathologist who goes to a small town to investigate a string of brutal murders. That’s all I know. That’s all I need to know. As a fan of Ellis, I really can’t wait to check this out.

WEREWOLVES WITHIN

New Werewolf Movies – Werewolves Within (game poster)
I have known about Werewolves Within for some time. I am always a little sceptical when I hear the words “based on the hugely popular video game”

Not much plot details are available but we know it is about a group of werewolves that attack a small town. I am not familiar with the game but I think it is a whodunit? sort of scenario where the villagers have to find out who is infected among them by taking a werewolf test, very much like we see in The Thing. Oh, it also has Harvey Guillén from FX’s What We Do In The Shadows series.

Described as a comedy horror. Who knows? this could be a lot of fun.

I AM LISA

New Werewolf Movies – I Am Lisa
Another fresh approach to the werewolf genre, only this time adding in a twist of revenge. A woman (gonna take a wild guess and say her name is Lisa) gets attacked by a sheriff and a wolf on the same night (ouch, unfortunate). She wakes in a cabin in the woods with new powers. She uses these new-found wolfy powers to get revenge on her attackers.

Looks to be part horror, part female-led revenge flick. I’m in!

Face/Off 2 Director Wants John Travolta & Nicolas Cage to Return for a Proper Sequel
Director Adam Wingard has confirmed that Face/Off 2 will continue the story of Sean Archer and Castor Troy. But are John Travolta and Nicolas Cage coming back?

Face/Off 2 Director Wants John Travolta & Nicolas Cage to Return for a Proper Sequel

The news that a new Face/Off is in the works initially had fans in a frenzy. How could you do something so egregious as to reboot one of the most beloved action thrillers of the 1990s? Mercifully, these worries were eased when it was revealed that the movie, directed by Godzilla Vs. Kong's Adam Wingard, will be a direct sequel, with Wingard now confirming that Face/Off 2 will be all about the original movie's hero and villain duo, Sean Archer and Castor Troy.

"Some people just assume when I say that that it just means it takes place in the world of Face/Off. To me, Face/Off isn't about a procedure or anything like that. It's not about the world that the characters exist in. It's about Sean Archer and it's about Castor Troy. That's what this movie is about. It's the continuation of that story. It's hard to talk about other than that but this is, to me, the definitive continuation of that saga."
While Wingard has not confirmed whether Face/Off stars John Travolta and Nicolas Cage are being sought-after to return, with the movie being scripted as a continuation of their story, it stands to reason that the filmmaker would want the actors back for at least a cameo.

Face/Off 2 Script Is Almost Finished, Director Is Determined to Make the Definitive Follow-Up
Released in 1997 and directed by John Woo, Face/Off follows Sean Archer (John Travolta), an FBI Agent, who undergoes experimental plastic surgery in order to impersonate his son's killer and sworn enemy, Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage). While his initial missions goes well, the real trouble begins when Castor awakens from a coma and undergoes the same procedure and begins impersonating Sean.

Spoilers for a nearly 25-year-old movie to follow, but the movie ends with Sean killing Castor with a spear gun and returning home with his John Travolta face intact, having now adopted the son of his archenemy. Now, this has led many to wonder how exactly Castor Troy will be brought back into proceedings, but interestingly the original Face/Off did have an alternate ending in which Archer looks into a mirror, and Eve, his wife, sees Castor Troy's face as the reflection.

While it is currently unknown how Wingard plans to resurrect Castor Troy, or the Face/Off franchise as a whole, this could be a good way back in, dealing with the psychological damage as a result of wearing the villains face.

This is not the first time that Wingard has declared his passion for the first movie, and his determination to continue the same tale. "I would never make a remake of Face/Off," he said of the project. "I would never make a reboot. And I've seen a lot of people, even after I said that this is a direct sequel, they keep calling it a reboot hybrid sequel or remake hybrid sequel. It's none of that. This is Face/Off 2."

However, Wingard decides to do it, the director has also confirmed that he and frequent partner Simon Barrett are close to finishing the first draft of the script for Face/Off 2, and while things are looking good from their perspective, he is cautious of the reaction from the studio.

"They've read our outline. Everybody's on board with it but actually turning in the script's a different thing so we'll see how everybody reacts to it."
One thing is for sure, the sequel won't go ahead without the return of Archer and Troy in some capacity, with Wingard saying "The story is leading us in a very specific direction." This comes to us courtesy of Cheat Sheet. If you want to see the alternate ending it is available on |YouTube

What To Expect From Jeepers Creepers 4

Jeepers Creepers was released in 2001, then came Jeepers Creepers 2 *in 2003, and finally, in 2017, Jeepers Creepers 3 appeared. Loyal fans thought that was the last of the tarnished franchise until the fourth installment, called Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, was announced to release in 2021. Even though the third movie took a nosedive at the box office*and in the critics'*eyes, another one is on its way, and hopefully, since the title of the movie has the word "reborn" on it, things will be a bit different this time around.

In the past, the storyline revolved around a group of kids having the unlucky opportunity to be in the midst of one of the scariest monsters of the 2000s. In the most recent installment, "creeper hunters" took on the job of tracking down this creature that craves the human anatomy. Nothing quite sticks like the original story of Darry (Justin Long) and Trish (Gina Philips) fighting for survival from the winged monster of the night, but for the heck of it, let's see what the fourth movie will bring, shall we?

The origin of the Creeper

From the very first movie in 2001, the audience got a small view into what the Creeper (Jonathan Breck) wants and when he comes around to get it. He needs to feed on human body parts to stay alive*(ew!) and shows his ugly mug every 23 years. The movies' storylines fall in line with that narrative, but as for the fourth installment? It's unknown. According to IMDb, the story will follow a woman named Laine who is traveling with her boyfriend Chase to a Horror Hound festival in Louisiana. Prior to arriving at the festival, Laine starts to experience strange premonitions that are linked to the town's past, where the festival is being held. Of course, the past involves the mythical Creeper, and Laine feels that once the festival begins, an evil being will be unleashed into the world once again.

"Ace Ventura fans will be pleased to hear that a third movie is currently in early planning stages and it could have an exciting destination.

The beloved 90s franchise saw Jim Carrey star in the leading role of Ace Ventura – the ultimate pet detective and it looks like Carrey could be pulling out those iconic Hawaiian shirts once more.

The Morgan Creek team said: "We're pretty excited about our franchise developments with the Ace Ventura franchise – it's noticeable from the 3 million fans chatting on the official Facebook page for Ace Ventura that audiences are clamouring for a 3rd instalment…

"During COVID, audiences have been in love and are thrilled to have beloved characters brought back with new stories. Ace Ventura will see a new day at Amazon as a major motion picture/theatrical with the Sonic the Hedgehog writers.

Terrifier 2’ Could Clock A Lengthy Runtime According to Director
The filmmakers of the upcoming Terrifier 2 are asking fans if a two-hour-long sequel to the 2016 original would be something they’d be into.

The question came from a post on March 22 from the official Terrifier 2 Facebook page. Director Damien Leone says that he has been editing the project and thus far has assembled a “rough” 1 hr and 30 minutes of film but has a little ways to go.

“Based on what I have left to edit, I’m projecting the final film to clock in at around the 2 hour mark,” he wrote. The original movie was only 82-minutes long.

Leone goes on to say about part two, “I know that’s not typical of slasher films but then again this isn’t your typical slasher film.”

Jokingly, comparing the extensive length of what he wants to do to Francis Ford Coppola’s opus Apocalypse Now, Leone asked fans what they thought about the projected extended runtime for an independent picture.

Most commenters agree that a lengthy movie is great but it should be tightly cut.

I think a 2 hour run time could work just fine as long as the pacing supports it. If it is exciting and engaging all the way through, make it as long as it needs to be!” wrote Patrick Chaffin.

Fan Erica Rae is also on-board: “The first one was really entertaining. As long as it gets to the point with the story, has great kills and doesn’t drag, im ok with the running time. I hope it comes out soon.”

Still, some people are a little apprehensive such as Aaron James. “More does not always equal better and I’d argue that the modern trend of really long movies has more often hurt the film than helped it,” wrote Aaron James.

He adds: “Only you know what you have and how the story works best, but I’d be hesitant to recommend anything longer than 1hr45minutes in length as this just isn’t the type of character that is going to need 2+hours to tell his story.”

Leone gave Art his own movie in 2016 and has been working tirelessly on the sequel which has already wrapped filming. The pandemic and a few other production hiccups have extended the film’s editing process and release date but Leone assures fans that Terrifier 2 is coming out by Halloween 2021.

Fede Álvarez Teases DON’T BREATHE 2 Is Now Finished & Fantastic

First-time director Rodo Sayagues’ Don’t Breathe 2 with Stephen Lang has wrapped filming and will be unleashed in August 2021. And today, the original director turned producer Fede Álvarez teases the sequel is 100% done and it’s fantastic.

Álvarez tells DiscussingFilm: “[Don’t Breathe 2 is] done already. I watched it not too long ago and it’s fantastic. So I just really can’t wait for you guys to see it.

The new film is said to kick off in the years following the deadly home invasion, finding the Blind-Man living in quiet solace – until his past sins catch up to him.

The sequel filmed during the quarantine. And Lang teases it’s its own thing. He says, “It has a tremendous kinship with the first film, but in many ways, in every way, it’s very much its own thing. I never walked away from a scene on this feeling like we’d left something on the table there. We really strived to get everything we could out of it. It’s an extremely isolating role. I spend a lot of time just with me, anyway.

He says: “And I suppose in some perverse fashion, it actually played into the playing of the role. We kind of debate and negotiate and massage every word, every phrase, every grunt. We all have a ball doing it because we enjoy working together. On the day-to-day life on set, I had a lot of input into it.”

Don’t Breathe was directed by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, The Girl in the Spider’s Web) from a screenplay co-written with Sayagues. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert produced.

The first flick followed three thieves (including Jane Levy) who get word about a blind veteran who won a major cash settlement following the death of his only child, the trio invades the man’s secluded home in an abandoned neighborhood. Finding themselves trapped inside, the young intruders must fight for their lives after making a shocking discovery about their supposedly helpless victim.

Don’t Breathe 2 hits theaters on August 13, 2021.
