Reboot of Steven seagal under siege.

V/H/S/94’ Filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto Directing a Reboot of Steven Seagal Action-Thriller ‘Under Siege’

Timo Tjahjanto should already be a household name in the horror world, having co-directed the insanely gory Macabre and the super popular V/H/S/2 segment “Safe Haven”. He’s also behind Netflix’s action-packed The Night Comes for Us, as well as May the Devil Take You, Headshot, and Killers, and his segment is a standout highlight of our new sequel V/H/S/94.

What’s next from Tjahjanto? Deadline reports that he’ll be directing a new take on the Steven Seagal action movie Under Siege, which was released way back in 1992.

The Warner Bros. project is being developed for HBO Max.

Umair Aleem (Netflix’s Kate) is writing the script.

The original movie was directed by Andrew Davis, with Seagal as “an ex-Navy Seal turned cook, the only person who can stop a group of terrorists when they seize control of a U.S. battleship.”

Gary Busey and Tommy Lee Jones also starred in the 1992 action movie, which spawned a sequel in 1995 titled Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. That film saw the return of Seagal as Lieutenant Casey Ryback, and there’s no word yet if he’ll be returning for the new movie.

We new it would happen just a matter of when .

‘Train to Busan’s’ American Remake Now Titled ‘Last Train to New York’
If It Makes Money Overseas America Must Remake It

Yeon Sang-Ho’s Train to Busan was one of the best the zombie genre has to offer. At a time that the zombie genre began to feel like it had been over saturated, Busan surprised with its emotional views on classism and other politics. It also made a train full of money. So, being that it made money, America is remaking it. The remake is reportedly being titled Last Train to New York. We can’t escape the fact that this particular title reminds us of some sort of throwback to a Woody Allen romantic comedy.

In a recent Deadline report that announced director, Timo Tjahjanto would be remaking Steven Seagal’s Under Siege, it also briefly mentioned this iteration of zombies on trains in the US. Tjahjanto is a hell of a director. His films are outstanding. So, we have some hopes left for the American remake of Train to Busan.

While, we aren’t a fan of the title for logistical reasons and for the fact that we are sort of fed up with remakes at the moment. We still can’t help but wonder what Tjahjanto will bring to the table. Like we mentioned, this dude’s movies rule.

The Last Train to New York is being developed at New Line and produced by James Wan

‘Evil Dead Rise’ – Bruce Campbell Says Next Year’s New Movie is “Dark” and “Pretty Serious”

By the time it’s released, director Lee Cronin‘s (The Hole in the Ground) Evil Dead Rise, the brand new installment in the Evil Dead franchise that’s going directly to HBO Max, will be the franchise’s first movie in nearly 10 years, following in the wake of Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead and course, the Starz series “Ash vs. Evil Dead” that brought Bruce Campbell back into the mix.

Evil Dead Rise is likely on its way sometime next year – no date at this time – and filming is complete. Speaking with the website BlairWitch.De, Bruce Campbell gives us a bit more insight into what we can expect from the new movie. And to be clear once more, Campbell is creatively involved in the project as a producer, but he’s not expected to appear in the film in any capacity.

But first, the official plot synopsis for Evil Dead Rise…

“In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”

“[The film will be] different, this one’s dark, this one’s pretty serious,” Campbell tells BlairWitch.De. “Good, strong performances. It’s a single mom who now has to deal with this book [of the dead]. These days it’s more about the book. That book gets around… handed around, passed along. People try to get rid of it, they try to bury it or destroy it, and they really can’t. So this book just keeps popping up. So it’s really just another story of what happens if this book appears in this particular group of peoples’ lives and how it intersects.”

Campbell continues, “Lee Cronin is a very serious man. He’s a very serious director. He’s a very atmospheric director. It’s gonna be really good. We’ve seen a rough [cut] of it already. It has all the components that we need, it just needs… like anything… it has to be tightened. But we’re in good shape. We let him have a lot of creative leeway. But the basics stay the same. The book, the possession, the rules of how you get rid of ’em. Every new heroine or hero has to learn how to dispel the evil.

“This family is not the same at the end of the movie. They’re gutted. The whole family’s destroyed. These people get possessed – brothers, sisters, sons, daughters. It’s a family affair. This one’s a family affair. They’re all related in this one. I think that makes the possession and killing your siblings, things like that, even harder.”

Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The End) and Nell Fisher (Splendid Isolation) will star in the new movie alongside Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan.

Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert are producing Evil Dead Rise. According to Campbell, the three have been “very involved” in the project every step of the way.

'Gladiator 2' Script Is Finished, Confirms Ridley Scott

A Gladiator sequel was officially greenlit by Paramount in November 2018, and director Ridley Scott has now confirmed the script for the film is written. While Scott has kept himself quite busy as of recent, with two major releases this year in The Last Duel and House of Gucci, he will still tackle the continuing story of Gladiator. Peter Craig (The Town, The Batman) has written the sequel, which is expected to follow Lucius, who was played by Spencer Treat Clark in the 2000 film.

The sequel is set to enter production after Kitbag, the next film Scott is set to direct. Kitbag will center on the story of Napoleon Bonaparte, with Joaquin Phoenix taking on the role of the French leader. Scott had the following to say about the Gladiator sequel and its script when speaking with Deadline:

"Oh, it’s been written. It’s already been written. We have a good footprint, a good, logical place to go. You can't just do another Gladiator type movie. You’ve got to follow…there’s enough components from the first one to pick up the ball and continue it."

Given that the sequel will be following Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), a 25-30 year time jump will be taking place. Russell Crowe, who portrayed Maximus, is still expected to appear in the film even though he dies at the end of the first film. No further castings or plot details are known, though fellow Australian actor Chris Hemsworth expressed interest in the sequel to Crowe back in April. The two worked togethe on Thor: Love and Thunder, where Crowe is expected to have a brief cameo as Zeus.

Kitbag and Gladiator 2 are the only two films Scott has in the pipeline at the moment, so it's very encouraging for Gladiator's sequel to finally get off the ground. Developments had began as early as June 2001, and have been on and off ever since. A draft with a religious angle came about in 2006, with Maximus set to be resurrected by the Roman gods and sent back to Earth to halt the development of Christianity. The script ultimately never saw the light of day, which is not surprising given that Scott had made it clear that he preferred a more grounded historical fiction approach.

There's no current release date for the Gladiator sequel.
