Horror Spoofs Only the best horror films are spoofed! So, it's no surprise that the upcoming new Wayans Brothers film, A Haunted House poster parodies Sinister! But what are your favorite horror spoof films? |
The first one that comes to mind has to be National Lampoon's Class Reunion! |
The Fearless Vampire Killers  |

Slightly OT, but what about horror comedies? I'm thinking of films like Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, Young Frankenstein, Love At First Bite, and Evil Dead II. Also, films like ReAnimator and Fright Night which work in some humorous elements rather unobtrusively, what do people think of them? |

I love Scary Movie 2 and I don't care who knows it! Mostly though I tend not to like spoofs..watched bloodbath at the house of death a while ago and didn't like it one bit. Young Frankenstein though is gold, as is just about everything Mel Brooks has done |

Night of the Creeps & Return of the Living Dead could fall under the horror spoof tag, as they reference other films (and directors in Creeps' case.) I guess for me, if I get a sense of love for the genre then I'm fine with the comedy, but if that's not the case or the comedy elements aren't even funny then my hate meter cranks up! |

Young Frankenstein is defo my favourite. So much better than the awful 'Scary Movie' parody sequels and the like we get today. U can tell from YF in its black and white cinematographic approach (that reflects the german expressionist inspired Universal originals) that Mel Brook's and Gene Wilder had a great respect for the original. In fact I believe they went to the effort and succeeded in obtaining the exact same laboratory sets used in the 1931/35 film's from 83 year old Kenneth Strickfadden's Santa Monica garage to use in the appropriate scenes in their film. |
