For me The Hills Have Eyes, Maniac and Dawn of the Dead are the better remakes out of the bunch. Still not great though.

Haven't seen Maniac yet, but the other two are excellent, exactly how a remake should be done IMO, with Hills being far more enjoyable than Craven's original

I really should have distinguished Maniac as looking back I really enjoyed it. On par with the original as it's quite distinct from that yet still retains enough devices to make it noticeable.
