Day Of The Dead Remake Hires The House At The End Of The Street Director - CinemaBlend.com This sounds f***** dreadful. Question is, how bad will it be compared to the last remake. (which I have to confess I sort of enjoyed in spite of it being garbage, if it hadn't been called Day of the Dead I do believe more people would have enjoyed it.) |

I'm still interested in the Robocop remake, for the simple thought of it hopefully being a better film than 3.

As for this, I couldn't get House at the End of the Street out of my Blu Ray player and back into the Lovefilm envelope quick enough, so I don't hold out much hope for this being any good!

I tried to like the house at the end of the street and failed.... the script and direction were both weak.

It was that forgetful that I couldn't tell you a thing about it

Neither can I! Actually, is the one in which Jennifer Lawrence befriends an outcast who lives seemingly alone in a house on the outskirts of town?

Yeah that's the one. It's just really dull and averagely directed. The twist is kinda obvious too as there's no other way for it to be resolved. It also loses points for sounding like a 70's Italian exploitation film but not actually being one.

So I voted... The Hills Have Eyes - Because it's better than Craven's campy original (and a rare instance of a remake surpassing the original IMO.) Dawn of the Dead - Which is a fun re-imagining. It's exciting, gory, pacy, polished.. I like it, but it doesn't hold any kind of torch to the original. Chalk and cheese. Night of the Living Dead - In a class of its own really. I think Savini's film has atmosphere to boot. It's a different film to Romero's, but incredibly unsettling. I'm quite a fan. Dark Water - Again with the re-imagining, it's nowhere near as good as Hideo Nakata's film, but it's a vastly different, far more psychological piece. Salles brings the melancholy and Jennifer Connelly is terrific. I liked it a lot. That's about it for me. |
