And a "15" in Finland...and a "16" or even "18" in Germany.

The most worrying detail is that it's directed by the same guy, who gave us the "Prom Night" remake

Well, I like the Stepfather formula...so I guess hope dies last....

Well that doesn't surprise me then. I didn't realise it was the same guy who directed Prom Night (again rated PG 13), but he clearly is opposed to strong, graphic violence, judging by his comments on the UK DVD, and that's why Prom Night was so tame.

Thankfully he wasn't given the job of directing the I Spit on Your Grave remake.

...yes I'd heard that too

Other up-and-coming re-makes that I know are being made are:

- Crazies
- Evil Dead
- Night of the Demons
- Nightmare on Elm Street
- Plan 9
- Predator (Imaginatively called Predators)
- Sorority Row
- Stepfather
- Wolfman

Whether any of them will be any good is another matter...

I'm wondering what a remake of "Plan 9" would be like, would you aim to make a better or worse film?

The filming of Plan 9 as seen in the brilliant Ed Wood is the best possible tribute.

"Ed Wood" is one of the best films I've seen about film making and the only Burton film that has any real warmth and depth to it.

Yes what happens if the remake turns out to be any good, acting, film making-wise etc. Won't do the original much justice then. Presumably they will try and make the film as bad as they can. In that way people won't be disappointed.

I find it rather depressing that "Plan 9" is to be remade.Ed Wood is such an easy target to mock.

Hmmm, I'm usually very open minded when it comes to remakes, but this "Fangoria" review of "The Stepfather" redux makes me carefully prepare for the worst...:

One should always make up their own minds though: I'll watch it anyway and be it only for mere complettist's reasons...
