I think they should only do remakes if
1 the film is old and needs a new make over EG peter jackson king kong
i thought was realy good only thing that spoiled it 4 me is when they was sliding about on the ice b4 the army starting shooting at kong it was does so sopppy imo

2 if the person who going to the remake is a decent r good director eg again peter jackson king kong

I hate a lot of remakes when they r just made for the sake of it
with no thought r anything i stated in a thread somewhere i saw day earth stood still on a plane journey it lacked everything,to me all it was was a hollywood remake with famous ppl and billion zillion special effects and thats it. it was a pointless crap bore remake

There's a few remakes there I like, I picked The Hills Have Eyes though. I think it's a great piece of modern horror cinema, truely disturbing, very graphic and well shot. I do prefer the remake of Night Of The Living over the original, Barbara's general lack of doing nothing in the original annoys the hell out of me. At least in the remake she kicks ass!

I think Savini's "Night" remake is slowly starting to get the appreciation it deserves. And yes, I'm also one of those who take the 1990 version over the Romero original for my own viewing pleasure.

Actually that was one of the things that initially turned me off the remake I thought her being in shock from what happened was perfectly natural whereas her remake version was a bit Ripley-Womens-Lib-Esque

But I didn't mind it when I saw it in full, I'd probably show the remake rather than the original to people new to it.

I quite enjoyed the remake of Friday the 13th! Saw it in a theatre packed with young runts and it worked surprisingly good!

in a tasteless self plug, you can read about it here (and why I feel that it works so well...)

"The Funhouse" remake by Eli Roth and "Straw Dogs" lined up for a redux?

http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/06/...-the-funhouse/

Imho: Why not?

In the case of "Straw Dogs": I would very much like to see Edward Norton in the Dustin Hoffman role...but I gues the studio will have a slightly different idea
