The Devil's Wedding Night(1973). Mark Damon plays Franz Schiller an archaeologist who is searching for a cursed ring that belonged to Count Dracula and sets off to find it in Transylvania at castle Dracula. Later when his brother Karl, also played by Damon, goes looking for him, he finds that he has mysteriously disappeared. It's hard to believe that this was directed by Luigi Batzella who also made the woefully inept Beast in Heat, even though it was pretty hilarious in parts, but this film is surprisingly well made. It's not perfect, but it's extremely atmospheric with some nice set pieces in a sleazier Hammer gothic style. Actress Rosalba Neri who plays Lady Dracula is superb and has some great scenes, enticing young virgins to the castle to sacrifice to Satan, and especially when she rises up naked from a bloodbath. Not a bad recommend at all, with a fair amount of nudity and gore, and including a great comedy moment featuring a giant bat. 7.5/10. |

Truth or Dare. 2018. On a spring break in Mexico a group of college students meet up with a stranger called Sam, he takes them to a abandoned monastery where they play at truth or dare game. Soon after something begins stalking them asking truth or dare. If anyone has seen the trailer, watch the movie, I'm not going to give much away but this movie was better than other new films I bought recently, well acted and good creepy story line to it, worth a watch. 8 out f 10.

October 1st. Blood on Satan's Claw (1971) A grizzly skull is accidentally dug up in and early 18th century field by a local lad (Barry Andrews) It's believed to be the skull of the devil himself Behemoth, and slowly comes back to life by growing parts of itself on the local village children. Disturbing, intense, sexually charged and at times very unpleasant yet always brilliantly original, Blood on Satan's Claw is probably the finest example of folk horror there is and one of the very best British horror films produced to this day.
