The Legend of Hell House 1973.

Dr Lionel Barrett is tasked to seek If their is proof of life after death in the Belasco House which he claims is the Mount Everest of haunted house. Along side him is his wife is mental medium Florence and physical medium Fischer who was part of a team years earlier to investigate the house that had dire consequences.

This is a small cheaply done movie but still entertaining, based on the book by Richard Matheson, it is a bit like The Haunting 1963, but in colour. The background story to the original owner of the house does blend in well as to why the house has a bad reputation. There is a battle of wits between Clive Revill and Roddy McDowell's characters to one man's desire to find and cast out the spirits and the other to forget the past and shut everything out. 8 out of 10.

Has anyone ever read the book and if so is it good??

From Beyond The Grave.

Another Amicus anthology and one of their best. Peter Cushing is a mysterious old chap who runs the Temptations antique shop were every purchase comes with a novelty surprise and a bad end for anybody who robs or cheats him.

the film consists of four stories, and the first tale stars David warner out the Omen who cons Cushing out of an old mirror which the spirit of a creepy old chap lives in. and later after a seance the ghost forces Warner to kill.
The second is my particular favorite and has actor Ian Bannan an ex military man who robs a medal to impress an old match seller(Donald Pleasense). and ends up cheating on his obnoxious wife(Diana Dors) with Pleasence's spooky daughter Emily, a witch(his actual daughter Angela who looks uncanningly like her father).
The next story is rather silly but still loads of fun, and has a chap swapping the price of a snuff box and being cursed with an elemental thingy on his shoulder. and ends up being exorcised by a mad old woman spiritulist called Madam Orloff.
The last tale rounds things off nicely with Ian Ogilvy out of the Saint buying a old gothic door, and a mysterious old blue room that strangely appears when the door is opened. Lesley anne down also co starring as his wife.

Yes, a very enjoyable anthology indeed and all well acted by some great talented actors of the time.
as usual Peter Cushing is superb and gives a top performance as the creepy old antique dealer. and even throws in a extra surprise at the end as well. 85.5 out of 100.

American Nightmare (2002)

Direct to dvd slasher starring Debbie Rochon as a slightly unstable nurse who murdered a group of campers the year previously then returns the following October 31st to 'off' a group of listeners of the American Nightmare pirate radio show who phone in to chat about their own fears on Halloween night.

A very low budget but competently made and acted film. The never modest Rochon is great as a Goth psycho bitch from hell in a film with a few inventive kills. Despite the dialogue being self referential (Spoorloos, Flesh for Frankenstein etc) especially at the start, it's clear the film makers are horror fans and take an idea such as a persons own fears and put it to good use in a film such as this.

Rock fans may be intrigued by the all girl band Pervis performing a cover of Venom's In League with Satan on the soundtrack.

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

Freddy Krueger has lost his dreamlike powers to kill because he's been forgotten by the residents of Elm Street, Springwood, Ohio. To regain his power and freedom, Freddy resurrects Jason Vorhees from his watery grave at Camp Crystal Lake and manipulates him into traveling to Springwood to cause panic and fear, leading to rumors that Freddy has returned. However Freddy soon realises that Jason is too good at this killing teenagers lark and is depriving him very quickly of potential victims. Freddy decides Jason has to go back to Crystal Lake but it ain't that easy to make happen so the two fight it out in a violent free for all.

Nearer an Elm Street film than a Friday the 13th one, at least in the first half, Freddy vs Jason is basically a comic book monster mash from the half way point onwards. Plot strands disappear and it's mayhem all the way in a cartoon like gorefest which should delight fans of the two supernatural serial killers.

Demonic Toys
A police sting gone wrong awakens an ancient demon who possesses some toys to kill people in order to gain strength.
Full Moon do it again, what is Charles Band's obsession with killer toys? Anyway good low budget fun, cheesy soundtrack, a vulgar baby and killer bear toy.

Enjoyable and very silly troma film about a monster that goes around killing people by using closets to travel. The title has more meaning which is revealed near the end of the film. Watch out for a very , very young Paul Walker. 8/10

One of my favourite Barker films /novels, real shame it flopped and we need got a sequel and a shame barker never wrote any more novels. 9/10

Now watching Apt Pupil.
