No idea, but i'm betting it gives you nightmares.

Reminds me. I must add Sleepy Hollow to my October watch pile.

Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals (1977)

http://oblivion.a.ltrbxd.com/resized...g?k=dd1bedee99

An interesting experiment to fuse the softcore sexploitation stylings of the Emmanuelle films with that of mondo cannibal horror cheapies of the same era, D'Amato's film is not exactly what you'd call a success.

However, despite the silly premise, some wooden acting and awkward sex scenes there's some fun to be had here and once the cannibals (finally) make an appearance the pace picks up.

Angela Baker is back but this time she is in charge she is now working as a councillor at another summer camp not far from the summer camp where she first reeked havoc many years ago. Angela has no time for any sexual behaviour from the campers and anyone she sees having too much of a good time gets "sent home" early from camp but will they ever make it home.

Sleepaway Camp 2 is a fun slasher the acting is decent the boobs are plentiful and the mullets are a thing of genuine beauty seriously Pat Sharp could only dream of such mullet perfection. The big problem with Sleepaway Camp 2 is the kills there is a pretty high body count but most of the kills the camera pulls away from the action and all we see it the blood spray on the ground of walls or on Angela herself and it's more than obvious that someone is squirting the blood from a fairy liquid bottle. Still a fun film and worth a gander and that end credit song HELL YEAH

With less cutaway from the kills it would of got a higher score.

After the murder of a member of the DELTA BI THETA fraternity by a serial killer known as Motherface his twin brother joins the fraternity to uncover the mystery of his " accidental " death.

This film is full of bad acting hit and miss jokes tons of blood and stupid characters. Shot to look like a vhs this is supposed to be the last found vhs after the films were destroyed. As stupid as this film is its a really fun watch and i would recommend lots of alcohol sadly i didnt have any but films like this are made for those drunken nights. There are a number of commercials inserted in between scenes some of these last a couple of seconds and others are a bit longer the ones the work the best with the humour are the short ones whereas some of the longest ones are feel like they were trying too hard and didnt work.

Couple of quick facts ;)

Fact No. 1 Despite the title there are no parts 1 & 2 we get a summary of the first two parts at the start of part 3

Fact No. 2 The film stars Greg Sestero who many will know as Mark from The Room. Funny thing is his acting in such a low budget film like this is still better than what he offered in The Room.

Anarchy Parlor (2015)

Whilst traveling in Lithuania a group of friends are duped into visiting a local back street tattoo parlor by an inked girl (Finnish tattoo artist Sara Fabel) where things go from bad to worse.

You never know what you'll get from direct to dvd horror films. From poverty row hand held affairs to well produced films with a decent budget. Anarchy Parlor thankfully falls into the latter category.

Shot entirely on location in Lithuania's capital, Vilnius, which looks a stunning city from all the aerial views seen in this film, Anarchy Parlor could be construed as Hostel lite. The story feels slightly derivative to begin with, echoing the 'it's Eastern Europe so you're all going to die' racist style elements of Eli Roth's film. I ask you why do westerners visit these places if they all die? Have the authorities or INTERPOL not noticed yet? However as the plot slowly unfolds there's more going on than first imagined, it just takes it's time getting past the cliches to bring it all together.

The students are at times as dumb as they come, seemingly in Europe just to take drugs, go to raves and get laid with the local talent. Their decision making at times is ludicrous, however i get the feeling the film makers knew this, i mean how else are you going to get your self brutally murdered on holiday unless you make stupid choices like antagonizing the locals and wandering off down dark alleys with tattooed harlots?

The acting isn't bad although the lead girl (Tiffany DeMarco) does resort to crying the same "You're sick!" line as she watches her friend go under the knife. Other than that she's quite good in a role where her characters actions appear to get a bit of the old Stockholm Syndrome. The film belongs to Robert LaSardo though. An actor whose name you probably won't know but you'll be familiar with his face. A character actor who generally plays a tattooed heavy, prisoner or drug dealer and you may have seen in CSI Miami, Nip/Tuck and Death Race among his 119 acting roles. Coming across as a pleasant fella and the kind of man who puts you at ease as you go for your first tattoo, seriously, i couldn't believe it either, LaSardo's performance is excellent, and especially creepy as you think he's going to get up to lots of horrific acts. And he does!

Whilst not a torture porn film like Hostel, Anarchy Parlor is very gory. The camera loves the slice of a knife in close up detail, and it's a film that would never have appeared in video shops in the early 80's, or indeed 90's, uncut anyway.

Going under the title Killer Ink on UK dvd, Anarchy Parlor is a film i rather enjoyed.

Funhouse.(1981)
From its Halloween/Psycho inspired opening, where the bratty little brother tries to freak out his older sister in the shower, to the deformed sideshow freak and the inbred carnival folk, Funhouse is a perverse little take on the usual kids have sex and die slasher films, in fact Funhouse is pretty bloodless and just relies on a twisted atmosphere and a weird bunch of characters, It particularly relies on that feeling of them and us, society has with many types of people, ether it be traveller's or fair ground people, typified by the fact that when ever the fair is in town there are stories of young girls gone missing, which our heroine gets a stern warning from her father about going to the fun fare. Its all based on predudice, which we all have, Hooper tries to alleviate those prejudice's by having the young boy Joey found by one of the carnival folk and returned safely to his drunk mother and in different father. And although the four main teen's are put through the ringer, (mostly there own fault for hiding there overnight and one of the gang stealing some money) Its Joey who seems to be in just as much shock, especially since his sister had early warned him she would get even with him. Monsters need love to? And the poor deformed son of the Conrad Straker, raiding his fathers loot to have sex with Madame Zena the fortune teller, only to suffer from premature ejaculation, whats a monster to do? kill crazy rampage I should imagine. That's what I do when it happens to me.

Curse Of Chucky (2013)
Well it was a nice surprise to see a so called re-boot of a franchise actually stick closely to its original material, but still add something fresh to the serious and have a nice wrap around ending that connected it to a previous film in the serious. Chucky seemed to have a slight make over, but nothing to outrageous and in fact his slightly new look made him look even creepier than before. Of course the plus point was making sure that Brad Dourif was still the voice of Chucky, and even managing to crowbar in the character of Charles Lee Ray even if it did feel like some kind of after thought. But when it comes down to it what we all want is Chucky wise cracking while slaughtering all and sundry. Curse does not have a particularly high body count, but there is a couple of nasty moments where Chuck stabs Barb in the eyeball and also her husband Ian gets his jaw smashed apart with an axe. The films setting is mostly inside a psycho inspired gothic house, which gives plenty of opportunity for a bit of a cat mouse chase between Chucky and the invalid heroine. While I really enjoyed the previous two outings, Seed and Bride this is Chucky firmly back in the slasher mode, but it was also nice seeing the lovely Meg Tilly back in a cameo appearance as well.

Alice: Chucky, I’m scared!
Chucky: [laughs] You f**king should be!

Angela is back once again this bitch is getting worse than Jason at this stage

In a new summer camp Angela this time enlists as a teenager using the false identity of a girl she murdered in broad daylight in the middle of New York in a garbage truck that a blind person could see but no one else noticed on a busy street full of people. The twist this time around is that its not normal teens at the camp but a sort of social experiment to see how spoilt rich kids get alone with underprivileged poor kids.

Just like Sleepaway Camp II there is a high body count but constant cutaway from the kills and gore really lets things down and is a real shame because these are fun films. As is the case with II here the killing starts right from the start and does not let up until the very last second before the end credits. Oh and the boobage count is also pretty decent ;)

High Plains Drifter

1 Attachment(s)

If you fancy watching something different for Halloween, why not a western?
It does not take me to say that this is one of Eastwood greatest films from his 1970's period, and maybe the best western outside of his spaghetti western trilogy,no grumbling at the back we all know The Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven are brilliant, but High Plains Drifter just has some rather memorable moments that are just sheer brilliance. The whole tone of the film with its rather ambiguous ending with that is he or isn't he the same guy? To me it does not matter because the story is so engrossing and Clints character is nearly as mythical as the man with no name. Its also a clever film managing to combine a not so subtle hint that Clint's character maybe a supernatural force? What makes it more than just a genre western is the music by Dee Barton,it such an eerie sound and a little disturbing that if you put this music on anything at all it would make it seem scary. If you had to level any criticism at all,it would be that its not a particularly subtle film, the whole revenge motif is pretty well worn even by the time this was made, and the look Eastwood gives every time a whip is cracked should be a good indicator that there's a troubled history, behind that look. Also Clint's character is not so much an anti hero but down right mean,no one can seem to shoot him and he manages to antagonise, annoy or just about kill pretty much everybody in town,in fact his character is nearly as vicious as the three main villains who have sworn to return to the town and reap there vengeance. Also the rape (and it is not consenting ) of Callie Travers seems to be rather out of place and makes it some what hard to understand his motives, you can understand him taking revenge on the town, but that scene does seem incongruous with the rest of the film. Made by Clint's production company Malpaso, its full to the brim of recognisable faces and his directorial style has a touch of Sergio Leone, which is no bad thing. A classic to be sure.

Marshal Jim Duncan—Rest in Peace.

The Last Horror Film (1982)

I've never been able to decide if this Maniac lite film is dreary dross or too clever and knowing for it's own good. Filmed on location at the 1982 Cannes film festival, although not officially, much of it plays like a movie spotters dream, with posters and references galore, however the adhoc filming becomes a little dull, i mean there's only so many times you can show what is the equivalent of stock footage and it becomes extremely repetitive.

As a horror film it's virtually non-existent, the film within a film makes suspense redundant and the single stalk and slash sequence ends up being a joke as the largely excellent Joe Spinell chases Caroline Munro about a hotel until she runs through a large crowd of people in the lobby cheering her and out onto the Cannes streets. Munro of course looks gorgeous even sporting an odd blonde streak in her hair but even after all these years i still can't decide if she can actually act but i'll give her the benefit of the doubt as she's lovely to sit down and chat with.

My overall feeling with The Last Horror Film is that it's far too clever for it's own good and has ideas which don't quite come off, to the detriment of it's horror aesthetics.

Halloween Night (2006)

Incarcerated for butchering fellow family members an inmate of a maximum security medical establishment escapes and goes back home on Halloween night and the killings begin again.

Sounds familiar? It won't be hard to believe if i say this film was made by The Asylum, a company renowned for ripping off more well known movies. But this one is a little different as it's not just a hack job, Fangoria magazine head honcho Michael Gingold is behind this one and for the most part it's rather enjoyable, very gory, full of naked lesbians ...you see now i have Nordy's attention!

i wasn't lying though, Halloween Night is exploitation at it's best, both exploiting the studios by ripping offer a better film and exploiting the punters with gruesome violence and T&A. Sure it's derivative but it's well made with great effects and some fun intricacies to the storyline outside the basic derisory premise. It only receives a measly 4.1 score on IMDB but i think it's a whole lot of Halloween horridness and do tend to watch it every October.

Next up we are off to the land of my father and my father's father and my father's father's father and my father's fa...... you get the pictures we are off to the dangerous countryside of County Leitrim here in lovely Ireland

Martin and his girlfriend Helena are driving through the countryside when they knock a man down standing in the middle of the road. In a panic they pack the body in the back of his car but a few minutes down the road the passenger is less than grateful for the lift and bites into Martins neck. After disposing of the disgruntled passenger Martin sends Helena for help in a nearby farm house. Moments later Helena is attacked by the man she loves but she is left with no choice but to suck his eye out with a vacuum cleaner and escape into the wilderness alone and confused. Outside she meets Desmond the village gravedigger who explains that a local farmer was caught feeding dead animals to cows and since then the locals have gone crazy and started attacking anyone they see.

Dead Meat looks like it was made with a budget of a couple of hundred euro which makes what it accomplishes even more impressive. The people here are obviously not actors it's like they went out into town and pick the first few people that showed an interest in making a few bob and put them into the film and even that works in favour of the finished product. Im not saying the acting was bad and of course im not saying it was good but there is no stuttering through the lines it's just like listening to farmers talking anywhere in Ireland and thats where the humour works with some of the conversations. This is not a horror comedy by any means its totally done straight but there is humour to be found maybe its just because i have encountered characters like these in the real world.

Another impressive aspect of Dead Meat is the gore and kills for a small film with a tiny budget it's all practical gore from killing a cow with a hurley and sliotar ( what would an Irish horror film be without death by hurley ) or decapitating a zombie with a shovel it all looks great. The makeup effects on the zombies is nothing amazing but it does work really well. To be honest i was expecting this to be total shit but i was wrong it's great fun and the characters are very lickable because like i said they just seem like real everyday people no macho posers or pointless freaking out or falling for no reason when getting chased these are people dealing with the task at hand in a realistic way like you would envision it actually playing out if a zombie apocalypse actually happened. At times the score has a real Italian horror sound which was a nice surprise it's a pity they didn't use it throughout the film but when its there it adds a nice creepiness to it.

I loved this film you can tell that it was a labour of love with some great attention to detail not just thrown together to make a zombie film they set out to make a serious film and achieved that goal i would love to see them make something else with a proper budget and see how they could handle that. The influence for the film are plain to see from Romero's the Crazies to Fulci's love of eye horror but nothing felt like a rip off just a nod to the films that influenced the film makers. Dead Meat will definitely get repeat viewings.

The Vampires' Night Orgy (1974)

http://skyfall.a.ltrbxd.com/resized/...g?k=788bd11323

Spanish shocker with a twist of the macabre as a bus load of tourists (one of whom is a blatant Charles Bronson look-alike) decide to stop off at a small, seemingly deserted town after their bus-driver suffers a fatal heart attack. Unfortunately for them, said town is home to a society of vampires. As you would expect, the tourists start to become a meals-on-wheels for the village of blood-suckers.

There is a lovely build-up of suspense prior to the vampires appearing on the scene as our exhausted band of tourists explore the eerie town and decide to settle in for the night. Unfortunately this suspense is a little short-lived as the film gradually turns into more of a survival tale, as the tourists start to disappear one by one at the hands and fangs of the local vamps. The middle feels a little padded out at times but there's some blood and a bit of nudity, but nothing approaching the levels of 'orgy'. However, that said, the creepy vibe and the strange little quaint village was more than enough to hook me in and it has a bizarre charm to it that sits extremely comfortably with me.

If you can survive the awful music and bad dubbing there is an atmospheric, enjoyable slice of '70s euro-vampirism to be found here.

A group of teens get together on Skype on the anniversary of a friend’s suicide. However, things take a dark turn when someone claiming to be the dead friend shows up on the conversation, while leaking a few dirty secrets too. Shot from the perspective of one teen’s laptop, the screen constantly switches from Skype to Facebook to Google to YouTube as they try to deal with the malevolent force. It’s the future of cinema, everybody.

As easy as it would be to dismiss the found-footage genre, there are a few gems in there. Films like .REC and Troll Hunter sort of make up for dreck like The Devil Inside, Apollo 18, Paranormal Activity and Area 51. This leads us to the unfortunate situation that we can’t automatically write off any new film from this genre as it may turn out to be quite good. Which brings us to Unfriended.

Unfriended is not a brilliant film. It’s not a great film either. And I’d be hesitant in calling it a good film too. But, it is not a lazy film. A lot of these found-footage films are often the result of bland filmmakers trying to make a quick cynical buck but, Unfriended shows genuine effort. A lot of research was put into social media and its pitfalls, as well as using internet technology to tell its story at a reasonable pace. There were many times where I caught myself saying “wow, that was pretty clever.”

But, Unfriended is greatly let down by its silly, generic script. Any terror is diffused when you remember that the villain is a ghost using Facebook from beyond the grave. I found myself laughing a lot throughout (the blender scene is a laugh riot). Had the film dropped the ghost angle and maybe focused on how social media plus irrational anger can destroy lives, this could have a neat little horror film.

Unfriended suffers mostly from the same reason video-game adaptations fail – they lack that interactivity that keeps the player / user engaged enough to continue. Maybe if it had been an interactive web-series like the Marble Hornet series, it might have done a better job at telling its ghost-hacker tale.

Even though I consider Unfriended to be a failure, I still recommend checking it out at least once. There is some really good stuff in here, and it’s borderline intelligent at times. But, its strict adherence to the teen-horror formula will probably have you logging off.

The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973)

What if all the top echelon of politicians and scientists were corrupt and perverted and got together for satanic orgies? What if a diabolical mad man wants to take control of the planet and spread a bubonic plague to create a cursed earth..Well once the American elections are over im sure we will have the answer to some of these questions.Dracula now under the guise of D. D. Denham, a rich Industrialist, has a country manor run by inscrutable Chinese lady Chin Yang,in between sacrificing chickens, and nubile young ladies being brought back from the dead, she also keeps a dungeon full of scantily clad vampires. Its just another day for British secret service,as they try to thwart a vampire coven with the help of Lorrimer Van Helsing and his granddaughter Jessica Van Helsing. I don't mind that it makes no real sense,I mean how did Drac become the next Clive Sinclair? Its wonderfully kitsch and trashy, with a basement full of vampiric beauties and bikers for henchmen its silly but fun.You can kind of tell that Mr Lee was only doing it for the money seeing as he does not seem to be doing much apart from standing around looking in different, but good old Pete Cushing as usual gives the role everything he has got,and with the lovely Ms Lumley in tow giving the film some added glamour to the proceedings. Its not the greatest Hammer movie ever made ,but it is quite possibly the most entertaining.

Screams of a Winter Night (1979)

http://primer.a.ltrbxd.com/resized/f...g?k=ece66bbb17

If this one spent more time and effort on its anthology segments rather than the drawn-out wraparound story then it may have been a great deal better than it was.

It's main emphasis is on atmosphere, which it sets up with the creepy, creaky cabin locale on a dark, stormy night and of which is to be the abode of a group of college kids replete with ghost stories to tell each other. It's just a shame that the stories are all oft-told uninspiring urban legends.

Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III

Dark drama that follows the adventures of a mentally-challenged man as he struggles with his dysfunctional family, as well as trying to introduce himself to “normal” society… Ah, who am I kidding? Two morons take the wrong road and are sliced worse than the average James Ferman session. Ken Foree and Viggo Mortenson star as well.

Now that Freddy and Jason were coming to an end, New Line Cinema needed a new horror franchise to milk. Enter Leatherface, whose last offering, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, met with a very polarised reaction. Many were taken aback by that film’s black comedy tone, and the film underperformed at the box-office. New Line promised fans that the new film would be a return to the original film’s horror, as well having more realistic effects and better production values. Fans had no reason to be concerned.

It bombed hard. Both critically and commercially.

Leatherface is essentially the first film, but with none of the unique atmosphere of the original. I didn’t feel grubby while watching it. Storywise, it’s trying to do the ultra-horror of the original, but it is filmed in the clean, stylised aesthetic of TCM2. That’s not exactly a bad thing but it just inspires the same question that Highlander 3 brings up, “why don’t I just watch the first film instead?”

There’s nothing specifically bad about Leatherface, but nor is there anything striking. It moves at a tolerable pace, the production values are adequate for the most part, the acting is alright but, barring the great Ken Foree, nothing lingers in the mind.

However, it’s a miracle that the film turned out anywhere near decent. New Line started production before a director had been hired. When they got one (the unfortunate Jim Burr), they fired him within days, only to rehire him when they couldn’t find a replacement. And, just to add insult to injury, they reshot sequences without informing him. Burr had the misfortune of seeing a different ending only at the premiere.

I think the problem with Leatherface, and with TCM sequels in general, is that the first film is one that doesn’t lend itself to follow-ups. It was a nasty nightmare from a disturbed vision that ended with no clear resolution. Tobe Hooper realised that trying to capture that again within a studio assembly would have been a fool’s errand, so he took it in a whole new direction. This one (and the god-awful Texas Chainsaw 3D) just repeats what we’ve already experienced. The faces are different but the motions are familiar. And familiarity just isn’t as terrifying.

You can have that in the case of Screams of a Winter's Night, but you take that back about Vampires' Night Orgy! :fencing:

Eden Lodge

I recorded this off the Horror Channel. Didn't know anything about it and hoped it would maybe have something to do with the fantastic Eden Lake. But, alas, the two films are completely unconnected.

This one is about a couple and their young child whose car breaks down in the English Countryside and a sinisterly friendly farmer chap happens upon them and points them in the direction of Eden Lodge, a quaint little hotel, where they can stay till their car is mended. The couple's relationship is on the rocks following some infieldelidy on the part of the husband. Add this to the fact that Eden Lodge has its resident babe who hangs about the hot tub in a bikini, that the motor mechanic is a big hunk, and everyone they meet going missing one by one, blah blah blah.

The film had a couple of reasonable, but short, gore scenes, but other than that there's not much to say about it.

2/10

PS - you can see what made me think the films were connected.
