THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE (1973)

Atmospheric and creepy chiller. Some good spooky moments such as the shape in the bed and the shadow in the shower.
This is great stuff and perfect Halloween viewing.

PSYCHOMANIA (1973)

Bat shit crazy hokum as the 'Living Dead' motorcycle gang return from death and terrorise the local shoppers!
This used to be a staple of late night horror back in the day when returning from the pub.
Pure popcorn. Great.

Thanks. Looking at yours, which is really good, made me want to change mine for this month and I think this one works well as a small avatar.

Vampires vs The Bronx (2020)

I doubt that this film will be popular here but I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of the gateway horror films that I watched as a young teen like The Lost Boys or The Monster Squad which had enough horror tropes to get me hooked and looking for something a bit more grown-up. I see this film as that same thing for the teens of today.

The story is quite slim, a neighbourhood in The Bronx populated by mostly people of colour is being bought out by some creepy old white dude in an expensive suit who works for a property developer 'Murnau Enterprises'. Three untrusting kids (one with a rockin collection of metal tees) get a bit suspicious and start to investigate, only to find that the the company is a front for Vampires who want to take back The Bronx as it used to be their hunting ground in 'the old days'.

It's fun, there are nods to vampire films all over the place and the make up designs have more than a passing nod to Buffy. Just don't be expecting too much but an enjoyable 85 mins.

I was only reading about this on IGN this morning i'm going to give it a watch over the next few days.

Day Five

kiefer sutherland plays a ex cop whom takes a job as a security guard , guarding a dilapidated and burnt out department store, he slowly starts descending into madness , when strange things start happening and people he know die in gruesome ways which are all linked too the spooky mirrors in the department store.

Creepy and unnerving , with a nice twist ending. You won't look at mirrors in the same way. 8/10

The underrated Michael Moriarty plays Mo Rutherford whom is employed to investigate a mysterious new food, called the stuff that is taking the country by storm. He soon learns that the stuff is alive and is controlling those who eat it.

Highly enjoyable and bonkers with some good kills, a favourite of Vhs rental days. 7.5/10

The crew of a spacecraft is sent to a mysterious planet , by the mysterious master to find out what happened to a ship which crashed on the planet.

As soon as they land strange and disturbing things start happening and the crew start dying in horrific ways. Must be only film with a giant maggot raping someone! 6/10

Tonight

Shaun of the dead

30 Days Of Unseen Horror

Day 6

Attachment 228254

A horrorscope hotline run by satan possesses the dean of a small town college and while he sleeps his ghost goes about the town on a killing spree making it almost impossible for the cops to pin the murders on him while his physical body is sleeping in his cell. The deans assistant who is also a student in the college and a bad boy leather clad biker named Spike yeah of course that's his name  who has come to town are the only two who really know what is going on but no one believes them.

This is like watching an American daytime soap operas halloween special it's like someone is holding up the script while the actors are reading the lines straight from it. Spike looks like a complete tool in his leather gear like a complete weekend warrior bike all pristine and shiny even his boots are immaculate but he does have stubble and tossed hair so he must be a rebel . They tried to put a little bit a humour in the dialogue but it just falls flat like more lame daytime comedy. Some good makeup and a couple of decent gore scenes but the best part of the film was hands down the Night Of The Living Dead and the It's A Wonderful Life mash up but that aside this was very forgettable.

4/10
