Had a couple of hours with Outlast. It's a fun enough game but it doesn't terrify me. The enemies are always spotting you as you walk down a blood-covered hallway, so after a while the suspense factor is gone. It's not like Alien Isolation where you're praying that you won't get discovered as you try to sneak by. Anyhoo, I'm moving from bloody hallways to... http://www.gstatic.com/tv/thumb/movi...70_p_v7_aa.jpg |
Took half-a-day at work today and decided to watch Trick or Treat and The Hands of Orlac. I have The Love Butcher lined up for tonight. http://oblivion.a.ltrbxd.com/resized...g?k=f69f431d0e |

I watched Slice and Dice doc last night and The Girl Who Knew Too Much this morning, both re-watches but only one of them stood the test of time, the Bava. The Bava has a ridiculous story for sure, but it's the proto-giallo so you would expect so, the cinematography and direction is great. It builds up a nice suspense and the editing is clever. It seems off watching it in Italian when it's clear that the actors aren't speaking the language but I didn't fancy watching the Evil Eye version of the movie, maybe the next time I pick this up I'll put that version on instead. Slice and Dice, while still be pretty entertaining looks unpolished when you compare it to Callum's later films such as 42nd Street and the cannibal doc. Nothing is really gleaned from the talking heads, they're just keen to get themselves seen on the screen and give some opinion rather than any facts or anecdotes. I think it's TCM for me tonight :chainsawkill: |
