I loved the scene in the gymnasium. Quite possibly the best scene in the series.

And as for the final two minutes -

I found the FD series a fresh of breath air compared to most contemporary horror. Plus that score is wonderfully haunting

Overall I found it fairly decent, but with all anthologies the segments tend to vary in quality. With ABCs this variation is compounded by the amount of segments present and the amount of directors involved. However, due to the lengths of each segment being fairly short you're never bored and it is certainly an interesting vehicle to showcase some talent and the imagination of the cinematic horror community both young and old.

I also actually found the sequel to be slightly better than its predecessor - I did feel that the quality of segments were improved overall.

Aside from films it's been nice dipping into one of my favourite books again this year - October Dreams.

A compendium of stories, poems and recollections from some of the great horror writers.

The October 31st extracts from Kim Newman's diary over the years make for fascinating reading.

A diversion from films again but on Saturday night on Radio 4 there is a new drama from Peter Strickland - a re-imagining of The Stone Tape.

Quote:
A special enhanced version of The Stone Tape is also available online and for download from BBC iPlayer Radio. Pioneering sound technology from BBC Research and Development has been used to create a 3D binaural mix designed for headphones. Binaural sound gives a unique immersive listening experience, perfect for a horror drama - but only for those who dare.
