Along with American werewolf in London , Wolfen and The Wolfman this is one of my favourite werewolf films.

A female reporter whom is nearly killed by a serial killer , is sent to retreat with her boyfriend to recover .

It's not long before she has nightmares and their is something not quite right with the retreat group and what's up with all the wolves howling?

Some fantastic transformation scenes .

Now watching

Followed by.

You seen A Werewolf in England before, Treb?

Go in with low expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised. It's low budget but nicely atmospheric with one or two novel approaches to werewolves.

Seen it before and enjoyed it , remember the scene of a werewolf taking a dump on someone, no other werewolf film can say that!

Night of the Demons III (1997)

Known as Demon House in the UK, the film concerns a group of youngsters who hole up in an old mansion believed to be haunted following a shooting at a petrol station.

Demon House is flawed but it's also an entertainingly fun ride. Although it takes a good third to get to the house the characters are engaging (as in not all completely annoying) enough to maintain interest. Once at the house the group meet Angela the demon from the first two films in the series and all hell breaks loose in an orgy of sex and violence. The scene as Angela performs fellatio on a hand gun then spits the bullets into her palm is a hoot.

As the film wears on the youths do tend to become more irrational in their behavior as Angela (Amelia Kincaid) seduces and offs them one by one. Luckily there's a stand out turn from established character actor Vlasta Vrana as a veteran cop in his final hours of duty who manages to hold it all together.

As with the first two movies the film romps along and proves an engaging but undemanding ninety minutes.

I'm planning doing all three Night Of The Demons movies on Halloween, always got a laugh with the copper offering a young one a piece of his brain.

Witchtrap. 1989.

A guy being chased round the house by a ghost while the camera can give you motion sickness, a parapsychologist, two psychics and a video tech tag along with three private investigators who seem to moonlight as a private security firm get the low down on the house and previous owner...what can go wrong?

After the first 5 minutes you know the acting is going to be really bad, even Linnea Quigley who is in the film for a short time can't save it even when she bares all. Director Kevin Tenney who has a small appearance does try his best. Judy Tatum does tend to overact a lot and James Quinn does deliver some laughs. Yet for some strange reason I still find this film entertaining.

The Masque Of The Red Death. 1964.

One of Vincent Price's greatest roles for me as the spoilt Prince who laughs and taunt those around him yet he fears the Red Death that strickens the village by his castle. This has always been a favourite of mine, the set up at the start with the old woman and the cloaked figure, Prospero showing his mean streak to the villagers, the way he takes prisoners for his amusement and the end with the masked ball. The background score changes from happy to haunting but the cinematography has been greatly done and Roger Corman knew how to make a suspenseful chiller movie.

Afflicted (2013, Clif Prowse / Derek Lee)

Two friends plan a round-the-world trip and also want to film the whole thing (otherwise no movie ). One has the life threatening condition yadda yadda. This one I'd heard about for a while, the image on the poster doesn't really spoil anything, so went for it. As young men away from home do, they try their hand with the local female populace. After finding his friend in a less than amorous state, things take a down turn. Either I blinked or coughed or something, but the conclusion they eventually come to did seem a tad forced. Whilst the second part of the film did contain some neat moments, I felt yet again that it was lesser than the sum of its parts. HO HUM.

The Guardian. 1990.

A young couple hire a nanny who in fact sacrifices young babies to a tree god.

William Friedkin returns to the horror genre after 17 years from directing The Exorcist and gives us a small low budget chiller that with some flaws does actually work. Suppose it did take time to check references out but nobody seems do a background check or did a proper one. The acting is decent from Dwier Brown and Carey Lowell as the new parents who hire Jenny Seagrave who worships a druid Celtic tree good.

The effects are good especially with the attack scene with Jenny and the young baby that get the wrath of the tree but something doesn't make sense, one guy gets his head whacked off yet when Dwier attacks the tree the same branch seems to knock him down after hitting his head, flaw or did he defend himself and just bad editing missed it out?? Another one that is entertaining to watch.
