Did you like Circus of Horrors? I thought it was pretty decent the first time i saw it last year.

I did to a degree, it had an interesting premise and some nice set-pieces along the way as well as some key euro-talent involved. However, despite that it was more than a little nonsensical and also unfortunately a little dull.

It was a shame to see Pleasence in such a small role too. I guess when it comes down to it, trying to dance with a bear whilst drunk is never a good idea.

Yes the extended cut.

Have you seen it before? I have had it for years on DVD, and the new HMV BD arrived today. As I have recently been watching the shorter version, which have had in HD for nearly 7 years, I think that's my preferred version, but it'll be interesting to watch the longer US cut and see whether my feelings have changed.

No I don't think I've seen it. Extended cuts can be a bit of a double edged sword, most of the tik they improved th film while others it can make it worse.

I've never seen the likeness myself between William Shatner and the shape's mask.

I still don't.

The Purge (2013)

http://oblivion.a.ltrbxd.com/resized...g?k=36c13322a6

Going off Letterboxd's review summary page for The Purge, I think I may have in fact watched a different film to a lot of the folks on there... or, in fact, I may have to take a long, deep gaze into that cracked mirror of mine and remind myself that I like horror films revolving around rich white people getting terrorized in their own homes by masked and armed assailants a lot more than the mean sample of movie-goers do these days (the tepid and often annoying You're Next withstanding to that rule of course).

Bring on the sequel - my body and mind have been purged and are ready!

66/100

I've never seen any of The Purge series. A bit as with Paranormal Activity i've just never fancied them.

I was the same for a while but something got under my skin with these and burrowed into my brain making me take the plunge and purge myself of any further trepidation in terms of these film. The first (which a lot of people seem to hold in the lowest regard due to it being more of a 'stock' home invasion films rather than it showing extreme 'purge' mayhem) was actually a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be... I think my mind had almost pre-emptively written it off and was programming it in as a mere stepping stone to a much more manic sequel, which I hope to check out sometime this month too if Love Film obliges of course.

Yeah, I'd rather eat my own socks than watch the Paranormal Activity films though.

I'll keep an eye out on your recommendation and see if i can pick up the two films on the cheap. Are there 3 now? Can't remember.

With plenty of salad cream socks are quite the delicacy round these parts.
