I should mention I have an awful release not the Severin, I've just been cheap and holding out for a blu-ray release. I held out for The Harder They Come on blu and it happened so why not this?

Is it the one with the US title? I forget what it's called - Death Dealers perhaps?

Yes, Death Wheelers. I don't mind a dodgy picture or sound but this was barely watchable.

I've been a little lax in respect to forward planning when it comes to my viewing. I've just been grabbing stuff that takes my fancy - mostly new additions to my collection I want to watch and the usual Love Film rentals.... however Love Film have been a bit crap with what they've been sending me, but I guess that's kinda my fault too... shit in/shit out after all. I've been meaning to re-appraise some of the earlier F13th films for instance (not being a big fan of the franchise as a whole) and they sent me Part 2 around the middle of September... after choking that down they sent me Part 3 on Saturday... I was pretty much 'Fridayed' out for the year already but now Jason can go suck a hockey stick. Hopefully the titles start to improve over the coming weeks. I did watch The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein today though so things aren't all bad.

It makes it easier to choose what you go for next for those of us overwhelmed by our collections as it cuts down the possibilities and makes it interesting. I can't even remember what I received from Lovefilm, nothing quite Octoberish.

Nah, if it was Beryl I'd have hoped to have had a cheap copy of The Beast in the Cellar to watch. But anyway I had already planned to leap to The Sorcerers after.

I figured you would go for The Sorcerers but Holiday on the Buses is always an option if you choose Wilfrid Brambell as your link.

Holiday on the Buses will be watched again before the end of the year but not until December, that's when all the On the Buses films are watched and enjoyed, well, at least by me.

Surely sticking with the tenuous link of Henson and going for a Muppet movie would be a far better option. ;)

As for me it will be Goodbye Gemini in a few minutes. Not seen it before and i'm really looking forward to it.

More Wes Craven last night with The Serpent and the Rainbow. Never seen this one before and I loved it, always been curious about voodoo since seeing Live and Let Die as a nipper! Exciting and scary, no-one wants to be buried alive.

"Don't let them bury me, I'm not dead!" Chilling!

Cinema Club were supposed to be releasing Psychomania on DVD some years back, around the time they released Horror Express and Crucible of Terror. I don't why they didn't, rights issues perhaps. It probably would have been the BBC's print of the film if it had been released. As for October Halloween flicks - I watched The Burning (MGM DVD) last night.

Starting with Mr Shatner in Twilight Zone episode "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" (10/11/1963) .Mr Shatner boards a plane just after recovering from a nervous breakdown. Well what do you expect happens next,he spies a rather ugly teddy bear ripping shreds out of the wing. But who is gonna believe a man who screams every minute and has bugged out eyes. If he did that today in this air of paranoia, the air marshal would of shot him in the head, (one less Al-Qæda to worry about ). But Mr Shatner is more cunning, while pretending to give a policeman Fellatio he steals his gun un does his emergency window (EH?) and blasts the wing eating Teddy bear to death. The plane lands with Shatner tied to a gurney mumbling and crying like a big gurl that his spines on his dvd collection don't match on his bookshelf. They should of shot the C@#T.

Unoriginal, I know, but I've been watching the Halloween films since getting the boxset. I just watched Halloween 3.

Maybe it's because I'm Irish and don't care much for children, but I love Halloween 3. It's ridiculous but proudly so. It has such a doomy soundtrack that you almost believe the concept. And Dan O'Herlihy's performance is brilliant (and the only time I ever heard a Cork accent in such a classy manner). That bit where he applauds Atkins near the end - sublime.

My only real criticism is that Tom Atkins doesn't get to go full-Atkins until the very end.

It's probably the must "fun" of the series.

Now, onto the extras.

I ended up watching Nightmare at 20,000 feet after Living Doll last night. I really haven't given my blu copies of the series enough attention after over-watching many years ago. Excuse the blurry photo I they were moving, I was moving.

I have the more recent radio dramas somewhere that I had to listen to whilst I was in hospital although I ended up spending more time socialising and looking after the lady next door to me.

An honest-to-God masterpiece. If you haven't already, check out the Vincent Price interview. Outside of the Planet Hollywood debacle, Michael Aspel has never looked so hopeless.

Well that was an unexpected little gem. Definitely not a horror movie, yet sinister and chilling enough to qualify as one with a final shot that sticks in the memory.

It's portrayal of decadence sort of lumps it in with other films of the time such as Breaking of Bumbo and Zee and Co but it's nearest comparison would be the same years Girly.

Well acted by all with interesting directorial flourishes from Alan Gibson, i'd definitely recommend this to anyone.

If anything can take your mind of work then it's Witchfinder General (unless of course you're a witch finder by trade).

However, dodgy toilets may be present... after all it was the 1600s! ;)

Glad you enjoyed it, Dem.

Funny you should bring up the Girly comparison as I think both Odeon and Scorpion released both titles on DVD around the same time as one another respectively.

Yes they did. I leapt on Girly so to speak and grabbed the Scorpion release straight away but for some reason never picked up this. I will have to buy Gemini as the one i watched i'm borrowing off a fellow forum member.

I thought it was okay - the gothic ambiance and settings did help to boost my enjoyment a bit, but as I'm finding with a lot of Alberto De Martino's films, whilst the ingredients are all there they never seem to come together in a way that ultimately satisfies, and whilst I've enjoyed to some extent what I've seen from him so far I've always been left with the feeling that there's always room for improvement.

Incidentally, it was actually some of the gothic scenes I stumbled across whilst doing a related search which led me to want to seek it out:

Last night's film involved Vincent Price, Hilary Dwyer, witch trials and torture.

I do of course mean Cry of the Banshee (1970). An enjoyable, sleazy romp that often follows the same theme as the superior Witchfinder General but is nowhere near as good. Always a decent watch all the same.

The 'Nightmare at 20,000 Feet' segment from Twilight Zone - The Movie is also well worth a watch. John Lithgow takes the Shatner role as the aerophobic passenger who's the only person to see a flying creature ripping parts off the plane he's travelling in. There's some great Craig Reardon creature FX in this segment too.
