According to wikipedia the S stands for Simon, the guy who managed the group and created the brand is called Simon Fuller.

Steps on the other hand is a totally different group and I quite liked them

SHOCKHEADED – Microbudget horror movies seem so different today. This was made maybe fifteen years ago, but almost seems closer to SOV stuff from a decade or so earlier. You can’t fault its ambition – I love underground stuff, but let’s face it, it’s a breeding ground for derivative dross half the time, whereas at least ‘Shockheaded’ tries for something other than badly lit slashing. That said, it’s kind of obvious where it’s coming from – a moody guy in a cheap hotel room who looks suspiciously like Bill Pullman receives ambiguous messages from a man in a white mask, gets entangled in the mystery surrounding an underground porn channel and is visited by a bargain basement version of Robert Blake from ‘Lost Highway’. This heavily aspirational surrealism, all wonky angles and random shots of yellow wallpaper, eventually gives way to a something that more closely resembles a really badly made thriller, but not before ‘Shockheaded’ makes an endearingly odd impression that feels quite hypnotic. Its steals from Davids Lynch and Cronenberg are forgivable, but less tolerant horror viewers might be quite dismissive of the obvious distance between it and an actual, fully realised movie – it really is quite clunky and awkward. But if you like badly made weird stuff which manages to achieve a certain level of scuzzy atmosphere, ‘Shockheaded’ might be something you could get into.

Damien: Omen II (1978)

After the thrill of rewatching The Omen after all these years i was suitably looking forward to this first sequel which is set some seven years after the original with Damien Thorn now living with his uncle (William Holden) and his wife (Lee Grant) prior to joining military academy.

Well disappointing is the only word to describe it. Damien: Omen II is basically a rehash of the first film with 'unexplained' deaths coming to all those who cross paths with the son of Satan. Whilst William Holden is okay he's no Gregory Peck and the film lacks a scary protagonist in the Billie Whitelaw mould.

Most of the deaths are functional at best but the trapped under ice one and the raven attack remain memorable from the first times i saw the film.

I suppose when it comes down to it Damien: Omen II suffers from the curse of the sequel in that it tries to replicate the formula from the very successful first movie but fails due to everything being so much less (acting, score, creative deaths and scares) this time round.

Evil Breed: The Legend Of Samhain (2003)

There's not a chance in hell i can pretend this is a good film but it has become a regular Halloween / October staple with me.

What puzzles me is that this version was supposedly cut for sex and violence. Okay i can understand that (But i don't agree with it) but what i'd love to know is what was so bad that it needed cutting.

I mean. In this so called cut version we get -

- Jenna Jameson tied to an alter naked before a cannibal slices open her breast in close up, removes a silicon implant and tries to eat it before deciding it tastes like plastic, so then disembowels her instead, all in loving close up.

- A guy in a bathroom dies when a cannibal shoves it's hand up his anus and pulls out his intestines before strangling him with them.

- Chasey Lain is cut in half.

- A naked woman in a cell with a dead newborn in front of her covered in blood still attached via it's umbilical chord.

Even though i love this film it's badly acted trash of the highest order but it is highly informative about the Gaelic festival of Samhain.

In fact when i come to research it i do seem to have the uncensored version according to https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=3758

Vamp. 1986.

To get into a frat house two guys agree to hire a stripper, when they cant get one, they decide to go out to town with a third guy and stop off at a nightclub to hire one unaware they are in a vampire nest.

This has always been a delight to watch even seeing Grace Jones semi naked, she nay not be for everyone but you don't look at the mantle piece while poking the fire. Robert Rusler plays AJ who seems he can supply everything and Chris Makepeace as his long suffering friend Keith. They team up with Duncan (Gedde Watanabe) who likes to flash his cash about and wants to be their friend for a week.

What seems to start off as a comedy slowly becomes a horror with some laughter mixed in, the pace of the film can get a bit hasty as it seems to speed up and slow down. Greg Cannom provides some good make-up effects especially with Katrina's transformation. Richard Wenk's direction seemed to go one way then throws in a curve ball for a small twist with the town. Billy Drago appears the white gang member Snowball who doesn't know what gang runs the street and Deedee Pfeiffer plays the stripper barmaid Alison who somewhat becomes the films heroine.

I've never seen it.

Had the Arrow disc for years but never fancied watching it.
