With Legion I think Blatty was trying to distant himself from Boorman's take on Exorcist 2 as it was laughable and it had gone through so many writers that the cast didn't know what the following day would bring for them.

The problem with the title is that Legion is the real follow-up to The Exorcist, not Exorcist II: The Heretic, so the further change by Morgan Creek makes it seem as if Blatty's film is the second sequel and a follow-on from Boorman's travesty.

It is similar, but not the same, to Halloween III: Season of the Witch, which has absolutely nothing to do with Michael Myers and the previous two films in the Halloween series. As such, Halloween 4 had to be definitively subtitled The Return of Michael Myers in order to attract the cinemagoers who had been confused or felt let down by Halloween III and wanted to see Michael Myers butcher people instead of some strange plot to kill children with masks and bits of Stonehenge flown across the Atlantic!

I think someone was trying to cash in on the Halloween title after the success of the previous two movies. The title was a bit misleading season of the witch when there wasn't a witch. I can't remember much about it except Dan O Herily being in it.

After the death of Michael Myers in Halloween 2, John Carpenter was going to create more Halloween movies based on the holiday but with Halloween 3 flopping at the box office he decided to bring back Michael.

I quite enjoyed Sawney: Flesh of Man. It was a blind buy and i really wasn't sure it would be any good, but it certainly fulfilled it's promise in my opinion.
