British Slashers
Pour yourself a nicely brewed cup of the finest tea and adjust your bowler hat before entering here... Done? Right on with the thread! We're all big fans of British horror movies, but what are the best British slasher films? No werewolves or vampires - just good ol' psycho killer on the loose. Which ones spring to mind? Which would you recommend or avoid? Neil Marshall's back producing with the new slasher from the valleys, Dark Signal. Great film with a nice twist - a sort of mix between The Fog and Urban Legend.

Superb news about Marshall back Kyle! I'll look forward to this indeed. British 'slashers'? FRIGHT FRIGHTMARE HOUSE OF MORTAL SIN THE COMEBACK SCHIZO THE FLESH AND BLOOD SHOW TWISTED NERVE PEEPING TOM BLOODBATH AT THE HOUSE OF DEATH CRAZE DEATH LINE DON'T OPEN 'TIL CHRISTMAS THE FIEND TERROR GOODBYE GEMINI THE GODSEND HORROR HOSPITAL TOWER OF EVIL HOUSE OF THE LONG SHADOWS KILLER'S MOON THE LAST HORROR MOVIE LINK MADHOUSE GIRLY THE MUTATIONS NIGHT,AFTER NIGHT,AFTER NIGHT THE NIGHT DIGGER RAWHEAD REX REPULSION SECRET OF SEAGUL ISLAND SEE NO EVIL 10 RILLINGTON PLACE THEATRE OF BLOOD Not all strictly slashers per se,but they are certainly relations to the 'traditional' slasher flick, and tbh I can't say there's a really terrible film amongst them....

There's also this one, starring Craig Fairbrass, Elizabeth Hurley amd Keith Allen. One of the films caught up in the furore over violent films following the murder of James Bulger, and subsequently cut before release. Would love it to get an uncut release sometime. As I said on another thread,SEE NO EVIL/BLIND TERROR is one of the finest British slashers and I'm sure Powerhouse will do it proud. Any other fans? Another which needs a good HD upgrade is FRIGHT. Another UK masterstroke of suspense.

I'd not really heard of See No Evil until three years ago when i bought the Universal dvd as a blind buy (no pun intended). I didn't even know it was British at the time. Mia Farrow, Richard Fleischer, Elmer Bernstein. Not names you'd associate with obscure British slashers. Great film, really is an underrated gem. |

No they are names you certainly wouldn't associate with a UK thriller. You seen FRIGHT?
