Default Starting a Jess Franco collection

I'm thinking about starting a Jess Franco collection.

I have:

The Awful Dr Orloff (U.S. release)

Female Vampire (UK release)

Barbed Wire Dolls (UK release)

(I keep meaning to upgrade the latter two, to uncut versions)

I would like to get his best films and get them uncut!

Starting from his best (and sleaziest) which of his films do you think I should get first?

And which versions are uncut etc?

Thanks in advance,

Chucky

If you check out DVD Compare, and search by director, you should be able to pull up a sizeable list of Jess Franco's work and the best versions to get!

Good luck!

IMO Jack the Ripper is one you should definitely get. If you are in the UK it is available uncut on Anchor Bay.

here's the trailer, unfortunately it's in german.

Cool

He made some great late 60s cult movies, KISS ME MONSTER and 'red lips' SADISTOEROTICA, campy, sexy horror/thrillers. Anchor Bay's BLUE RITA, another Franco underrated flick, looks great too. The first two are a must buy.

One of Franco's best is the WIP flick Women In Cellblock 9. Sleazy, trashy fun.

This release is uncut and has an English soundtrack:
Tropical Inferno Frauen für Zellenblock 9 Women in Cellblock 9 Women in Cellblock Nine: Amazon.co.uk: Esther Studer, Karine Gambier, Howard Vernon, Susan Hemingway, Aida Gouveia, CategoryCentralEurope, CategoryCultFilms, CategoryEroticFilms, film mov

Greetings!

As you have ...Orloff and Female Vampire, my next recommendation would be the atmospheric Count Dracula which I think is an under-rated flick.

I also liked the beautiful dreaminess of Virgin Among The Living Dead a lot.

Oh yeah, Necronomicon/Succubus is boss too. Janine Reynaud is wonderful.

Gotta agree with Plato and Hamish on The Red Lips Films and Bloody Moon. Others i love are Exorcism, Faceless and Demoniacs. All region 1 releases.
