Default Giallo Help ?

Recently got into Giallo (or is it gialli - plural?) movies . I have bought quite a few over the past few weeks and to be honest a few have been pretty dire , so before I buy anymore can anyone recommend some good ones as there are so many out there ? I have all the Argento stuff , been a fan of those for years . Maybe your top 5,s ?

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend -

The Case of the Bloody Iris
The Bloodstained Shadow
Who Saw Her Die?
Short Night of Glass Dolls.

They were the first four i ever saw (actually in a box set from Anchor Bay US). They hooked me straight away and i've watched them loads of times over the last decade. I'm fairly sure most would say all four are at the top end of the genre.

I could recommend more but there's no point bombarding you with titles just yet

What have you currently got?

I'll suggest a few more if you can post a list.

Sergio Martino's The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh, The Case of the Scorpion's Tail, All the Colours of the Dark, and Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I have the Key.

Lucio Fulci's Lizard in a Woman's Skin, Don't Torture a Duckling, and Seven Notes in Black/The Psychic.

Black Belly of the Tarantula is another good one.

Agreed, all excellent examples.

Don't know about YVIALRAOIHTK as i wouldn't suggest remortgaging to get hold of a copy.

I only have it on that Pop Flix Deadly Fiends set that went out of circulation almost immediately. Great quality though.

Blood and Black Lace, Deep Red and Perfume of the Lady in Black should be added to whats already been listed, but the list of Giallo is almost endless, films like Nothing Underneath have such great final moments that an otherwise okay thriller becomes memorable and stays with you long after it's gone. There is great pleasure to be had in the genre, but it can be a lifelong addiction tho

Some great suggestions have already been posted, but I always like to recommend two of my personal favourites: Renato Polselli's Delirium and Sergio Bergonzelli's In the Folds of the Flesh. Both of which are tilted more towards the psycho-sexual sleazy side of the gialli spectrum. They're not necessarily going to be everyone's 'cup of tea' though...

Some really great films have been posted here. I would also recommend Emilio Miraglia's The Red Queen Kills 7 Times and The Night Evelyn Came Out Of The Grave. Luciano Ercoli's Death Walks At Midnight is also very enjoyable.
