"Introducing Skeleton Mayhem

Over the past few months, we've taken the time to evaluate our options with regards to running the festival this October. Having spoken to our colleagues at Broadway Cinema, we are delighted to announce that Mayhem Film Festival will return with a physical edition this autumn, on our original dates of 15-18 October 2020. However, this year's Mayhem will not look like previous editions.

As the situation continues to evolve rapidly, and as restrictions are still in place across the board, we have decided to host a scaled-down edition of the festival. Skeleton Mayhem will take place over four days but will be a much smaller edition than what we would normally present. However, it will keep the essence of what Mayhem is about.

We are currently working with Broadway to present this year's edition to you in a way that will still allow you to enjoy the festival experience, that will allow filmmakers to have their films screened in the best environment possible and, more importantly, in the safest way possible for our audience and our staff. Broadway itself will reopen in September

Our team recently attended Cannes' Virtual Market to start programming this year's festival and we hope to be able to announce our first titles soon.

We will keep you updated on our progress in the next few weeks as the situation continues to evolve and as we continue to consult with our friends at Broadway Cinema. Those of you who are Mayhem regulars will know our Early Bird passes are usually available around this time of year however, as Skeleton Mayhem will be a condensed edition, and as screen capacity may still be limited, there will be no passes available for this year's festival and each screening will require an individual cinema ticket.

We thank you for your patience and support over the past few months and we look forward to seeing you again this autumn. In the meantime, please be safe and feel free to reach out to us through our social media channels."

Line-Up

ALL FILMS WILL START PROMPTLY AT THE ADVERTISED TIME. EACH FILM WILL BE INTRODUCED BY MAYHEM FILM FESTIVAL'S CO-DIRECTORS, CHRIS COOKE AND STEVEN SHEIL.

PLEASE NOTE ALL FILMS HAVE AN ADVISED CERTIFICATE 18, UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.

Thursday 15 October
BOYS FROM COUNTY HELL // Dir. Chris Baugh
Our opening film is Irish horror-comedy BOYS FROM COUNTY HELL, which sees the residents of a sleepy Irish village (whose claim to fame is the dubious legend that Bram Stoker once spent a night in the local pub where he was inspired to write 'Dracula') in a fight for survival as they discover there may be more to the myth of a local bloodsucking creature than they thought. From the producers of last year's Mayhem Film Festival favourite EXTRA ORDINARY.
Friday 16 October
PG: PSYCHO GOREMAN // Dir. Steve Kostanski
We're delighted to welcome back Steven Kostanski with his new film, PSYCHO GOREMAN. When siblings Mimi and Luke unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord using a magical amulet, they force the monster to obey their childish whims, and accidentally attract a rogues' gallery of intergalactic assassins to small-town suburbia. Called "the craziest, bloodiest horror-movie of 2020" by Bloody Disgusting, we can't wait to screen this journey into madness.
Saturday 17 October
Short Film Showcase // Dir. Various (Line-up will be announced on Friday 18 September)

Sunday 18 October
THE OAK ROOM // Dir. Cody Calahan
Finally, our closing film is THE OAK ROOM, a violent Canadian story of mistaken identity and double crosses starring Breaking Bad's RJ Mitte. During a raging snowstorm, a drifter returns home to the blue-collar bar located in the remote Canadian town where he was born. When he offers to settle an old debt with a grizzled bartender by telling him a story, the night's events quickly spins out of control.
