Needless to say, I've come into this party a little late. That's a scary amount of movies to choose from, some might say, uncharitably, that it's a ridiculously unrealistic amount to choose from. But not me, no sir. I chose Dog Soldiers because I love the atmosphere of it. The score is fantastic, using an old piece of Celtic music and weaving it into the rest of the score. The Werewolves look physically imposing if you forget how the effect was achieved. I like the camaraderie of the cast. Sean Pertwee is one of my favourite actors that few people seem to know even if his voice is used in 98% of advertising. I also have an accquaintance in Leslie Simpson. I think this is his best movie so far, but he disagrees, saying it's The Descent. I also like Neil Marshall as a Director and look forward to anything he does. I'm currently waiting for Centurion on BR. |

Marshall's DOG SOLDIERS and THE DESCENT were superb. After these two corkers,DOOMSDAY was a bit of a disappointment.... I mean, they think Glaswegians are wild or something?

No, I loved Doomsday! It referenced some of my favourite movies. The scene that virtually recreates the driving in both Mad Max 1 and 2, with Frankie playing made the hairs on my arms stand up! When I first saw Mad Max 1 and 2, i was listening to that track. I eckon Neil Marshall was too. I'm looking forward to seeing Centurion. |

It wasn't bad,but two films as hot as DS and TD,is hard to live up to I suppose. Maybe I should give it another whirl. Yeah,Centurion looks VERY nice indeed.

The Doomsday pot pourri of film references wasn't everyone's cup of tea. I reckon it was Neil Marshall's "Grindhouse" movie and a love letter to early 80s action movies.

Funnily enough, I was going to pick up the UK Cinema Club release of this the other day but decided against it - good job too. Great news loops.
