I've always preferred The Howling to AWIL. But they're both excellent films.

My personal favourite is Hammer's Curse of the Werewolf and I'm baffled why Hammer never made any others. I quite like Legend of the Werewolf too - not the best the genre has to offer, but David Rintoul's make-up is scarily effective.

American Werewolf is my personal favourite. Love Silver Bulllet and as far as more recent werewolf movies go, Ginger Snaps is pretty damn decent!

Naschy's The Werewolf Vs the Vampire Woman (aka Werewolf's Shadow). Not only do we get Waldemar Daninsky, but Elizabeth Bathory and a member of the Blind Dead, too. Absolutely bonkers and hugely entertaining movie!

As a pre-teen child, the werewolf was the monster I was most scared by, even before I had seen any of the films

I think that the classic picture of Lon Chaney as Larry Talbot was enough to give me nightmares!

I think that my main problem with the creature was that it was a person who had no control of what its body looked like. As a youngster, I could relate to that!!

The transformation of Chaney in the original Wolfman must have looked astounding at the time it was made, but it still holds up well today. The Howling remains my favourite werewolf film but I also love American Werewolf,Wolfen.Sliver Bullet & Curse Of The Werewolf.I thought the recent Jason Mamoa film Wolves while no classic was quite entertaining. The Undying Monster is another atmospheric little gem.

I watched AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON today, for the first time in years and was surprised how small and intimate an actual film it is once you get over all the carnage.
