What about DOG SOLDIERS B.E.?
Now there's a boot in the nuts werewolf film eh?

Almost as successful at mixing humour and horror as AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON I reckon......
Dog Soldiers was a lot of fun - never quite took itself too seriously! Some of the werewolf effects were laugh out loud - especially when one went gliding past a window like it was on wheels!

An American Werewolf In London belongs to those rare breed of horror's that can pull of a decent dark comedy, with the horror elements still intact. A benchmark really.

I bought the new release of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON on Monday.
As B.E. says,it's one of the few films that manages to mix horror with the blackest of humour, whilst being scary.
The nightmare sequences being the best.
For me it narrowly outshines THE HOWLING.

i couldn't say witch one i like the best there both great films.

the nightmare sequences in aawil always used to terrify me as a kid. the only thing that lets howling down is the ridiculous looking werewolf at the end.

Nightmare sequences as a kid?-Ditto!

Yeah the blow-dried look for Dee Wallace wasn't the best of climaxes....

Rob Bottin's transformations were pretty cool, though Rick Baker's transformation is still king I reckon, and was very worthy of the Oscar it won.

The less said about THE HOWLING 2 the better!
(Apart from Sybil Danning) that is!

There was a U.S DVD (Shriek Show I think) but it was a messily cropped print. I have the Japanese one which is uncut. The old UK video was cut but it wouldn't have any problems today.

Howling or American Werewolf. Wow, that's a tough choice.
