That's werewolf to you and me.We've discussed zombies,giallo's and slashers galore,but the old full-moon-howler seems to be somewhat neglected.

From THE WOLF MAN to UNDERWORLD,the werewolf has been a constant iconic monster throughout the history of the horror film.

Great thread reaps - I love a good werewolf movie. :nod:

Some of my favourites were the Spanish takes on the werewolf tale, with Paul Naschy. I love Werewolf's Shadow (La noche de Walpurgis), Curse of the Devil (El retorno de Walpurgis), and Frankenstein's Bloody Terror (La marca del Hombre-lobo) :cool:

I'm a bit of a sucker for werewolf movies, though and have quite a few on DVD. One of my all time faves has to be Neil Jordan's The Company Of Wolves. Love it. :nod:

Company of Wolves is one that seems to split audiences right down the middle B.E.
I think it's great,closest transition of a fairytale from page to screen I've seen,and anyway,any film that does in Angela Lansbury,has to have some merit....:biggrin:

I've a few of Naschy's werewolf films mate,but never got round to watching them.What's the count up to now? Eleven?

WOLFEN is another favourite of mine.An intelligent take on an old theme.:cool:

I've lost count to be honest mate! :pound: There are loads of them - many I haven't seen. The problem with a lot of Naschy's films is that most of them are known by about 4 or 5 different titles, so sometimes it's confusing knowing whether you've seen one or not! :laugh:

I tried to get into Wolfen, but I found it really dull. Unfortunate really because I had heard really good things about it. I do own it, but have only watched it that one time.

They certainly went to town on the advertising for Company.The first one below was used for the Palace vhs release I'm sure.
Also interesting to note that Canon seems to have distributed it in the states.

I found it to be different in the fact that it brought in Native American mythology.The wintery,desolate Bronx settings also made it atmospheric I reckon.But,hey,everyone to their own.

What about DOG SOLDIERS B.E.?
Now there's a boot in the nuts werewolf film eh?

Almost as successful at mixing humour and horror as AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON I reckon......

The near nasty Werewolf Woman with Annik Borel was dire but entertaining.
