Although I find it frankly bizarre (excuse the pun) than there is no room for The Exorcist (or even The Exorcist III) on your list, it's a very good one.

Also, the fact the most recent film in your top 10 is from 1989 says just about all one needs to know about what you think of horror movies made in the last three decades.

The Exorcist may have made the Top 200...

There's plenty of great horror films from the past three decades, however not many favourites (as yet).

How different would the list to be if it was ranking great horror films rather than favourite horror films?

I'm tempted to place The Witch and Trick r' Treat quite highly. Certainly the latter as it's a guaranteed annual watch nowadays and never feels tired.

I find it very hard to be objective when ranking films, so undoubtedly my subjectivity would creep in somewhat making it a bit of a fruitless task.

Plus, it wouldn't really feel like 'my' list - more so a list of what I feel critics / the general population like the best making it more than a little redundant.

I get what Nos means. Ranking a predefined list to your own personal taste. In this case a list of what are considered the best horror films.

As an example here's new member stephen 42's list

1.Suspiria
2.The Grudge(remake)
3.Carrie(the original....not the pointless beyond belief remake)
4.Tenebrae
5.The Bird With The Crystal Plumage
6.Halloween
7.Night of the Living Dead
8.The Fog
9.Dawn of the Dead
10.Bay of Blood
My ranking of those films would be -

1- The Fog
2- Halloween
3- Suspiria
4- Bay of Blood
5- Tenebrae
6- The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
7- Night of the Living Dead
8- Carrie
9- Dawn of the Dead
10- The Grudge (remake)

That I could certainly do, but I inferred he was talking about making a list from scratch of what you feel are the 'greatest' horror films rather than your personal favourites.

I always find 'top' lists almost impossible to do. What i find to be brilliant one day, on another will fall flat - there are few films that i like whatever my current mood.

That's what I meant. I was asking how much of a difference there would be between what you consider to be a great film and a personal favourite.

How many films can you watch frequently despite clear shortcomings in direction, acting, or screenwriter, for example, and how would you like them? On the other hand, what films do you consider to be almost flawless but have very little interest in watching?
