Default 'Saw' Enters The Guinness World Records as Most Successful Horror Franchise Ever

Thought this was worth a mention. $733 box office with one more still to come. Doesn't account for inflation and ticket price rises and Scream might have been there if there were more than three.

Halloween (10 films, 1978-2009) - $367m
A Nightmare On Elm Street (nine films, 1984-2009) - $447m
Friday the 13th (12 films, 1980-2009) - $465m
Scream (three films, 1996-2000) - $507m
Saw (six films, 2004-2009) - $733m

Jigsaw kills Jason, Michael Myers and Freddy all in one go!

Honestly, I'm not a big fan. I was really excited to see the first one and eagerly went to the cinema but in a film that revolves mainly around the interaction of two people in one room, I couldn't get past the lousy acting.

I've seen a couple of the others and thought they were okay but nothing special.

Now I'll wait for the rush of Saw-lovers.

No need to wait long - I'm a huge Saw fan. I just luv the franchise - sure the films have gotten worse but I'll still go to the cinema and see them each year. I'm surprised it's the most successful horror franchise though.

I love every single second of SAW and I'm really happy they made it into the world records ... well, the only thing that kinda bugs me is that the 7th is gonna be the last one...

The seventh is the last? I thought they originally announced eight. Oh well, to be honest I thought they'd been limping along for at least the last three...

Oren Koules called the seventh the "big finale" ... it's supposed to have 11 traps and it had to be cut down 6 times before the MPAA passed it with an R-Rating.

I'll admit, the premise was great, I really liked the 'tasks' and I thought the end was ingenious and really good. Just wasn't enough to save it as an overall movie though for me.

I'd bet everything that there'll be an Unrated version ... just like for every other entry in the SAW franchise
