The sermon was meant to be overly long. You should really check out the documentary on those West Baptist guys. Incredibly compelling stuff. You don't need the info going into the film but it definitely puts another dimension to it.

It's a shame Smith is retiring but he's going out on some strong notes.

I thought Red State was just "meh". It was OK, passed the time, but nothing special. Certainly nothing offensive.

Yep insane and a scary group. I would have preferred if Smith would have used his original rapture ending for the movie but he was worried about budget.

In the original ending when Parks is saying shoot me the sound is heard getting louder and he gets ripped apart followed by his followers leading to us seeing the coming of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Would have been brutal.

The only time I can remember having to look away from the screen during a movie was the "cat and the hungry rats" bit in Men behind the sun.

I can't remember ever being repulsed or made to feel physically sick by a film whose content I truly found abhorrent. However, as I mentioned in another thread, two Nazi propaganda films are utterly wretched:

(Its director, Veit Harlan, stood trial for crimes against humanity.)

Both are repellent.
Is this the wrong time to bring up the fact that i have Triumph Of The Will??? Which i'm sure some would find more appalling than a film where a rubber doll is "penetrated"...though i'm sure iit would be a close run thing

Is this the wrong time to mention that I love Triumph Of The Will and consider a masterpiece?
