Well now I'm reunited with some of my old dvd collection, maybe it's time for some serious giallo re-viewing.

Think I'll start with Case Of The Bloody Iris then. I've had about three hours sleep in 48 hours so that may affect my judgement though, hopefully in a good way. Or I may just pass out in the middle!

I guess you passed out since there's no review yet...

It's not a giallo, but as it's italian I'll ask here: my australian dvd of BODY COUNT arrived this morning and would like to know if it really is 100% uncut. I know DVD Compare says it is but I want to be sure.

Couldn't give you a straight answer on that one.
I have the German dvd and it seemed to me that there could be footage missing from the murder scenes as some are really tame while others are more explicit.
Seems to be sourced from a tapemaster?

Anyway I've never heard of a longer version.

Btw the scene with the police car (RED police lights on!) in the woods is pure genius!

Yes it's from a tapemaster, which looks identical to the UK disc. I'll see if I can find any info online.

I just managed.

My head started drooping in the middle but managed to wake myself up with a ham and cheese sandwich and can of coke.

My memory is so bad! I couldn't even remember who the killer was but it's about 5 or 6 years since I last watched it. Overall though still a good one. Edwige, quite intelligent overall and the drowning scene is classic. Could have maybe done with another kill in the middle to spice things up a little but really enjoyed it all over again and quite liked the English dub too but then that's the only version I've ever seen.

Feeling more awake today so time for Blood and Black Lace hopefully as I've been waiting to watch it. It'll actually be the first time I've watched the English dub as I only had the velvet one before, so that'll be interesting.

I compared the run time with the UK edition and now I'm certain it's uncut:

UK = 82:53
AUS = 83:16

Here are some grabs from the Aussie disc:

Sounds like it's the same as the German disc...
Did you also notice 2 or more "glitches" in the picture?

I am so happy for that new Anolis Blood and Black Lace!

I was actually very impressed with the English dub and preferred it to the Italian. Syncs well to me and was quite well 'acted'. Didn't have that melodramatic 'iistening to a radio play while watching a film' feel and if I didn't know Cameron Mitchell's voice from watching a gazillion episodes of High Chapparal when I was a kid I'd have thought it was his own!

Some little nuances like how unstable the assistant is came through better and earlier I thought. He's a bit level in the Italian dub before he freaks out at the police station.

I've never seen the new VCI disc but all the reports I've read are poor so I'd say this is my preference disc for an English friendly version, even more than the old velvet one.

Glad you liked it!
The image quality is also the best around.
I'm quite surprised the ones at OMG haven't sold out already.
I'm guessing everyone's going to wait till it's oop and fetching ridiculous amounts?
