I am envious of you both, seeing these classics for the first time.

The figurine could be a little less cartoony though.

Still with Noshame, did either of you come across the Dark Waters box set?

as well as being a terrific gothic film it comes with a carved stone tablet in the shape of a demonic head - absolutely brilliant.

I hadn't heard about it until you mentioned it, but just had read about it and it does sound like my kind of film. Unsurprisingly, I've just ordered the set with the carved stone demon face which looks absolutely brilliant.

Thanks for the recommendation -- I'll say what I think about it either here or on the 'What have you watched recently' threa.

The good thing about both box sets, is even if you don't like the films , they are deleted, the companies now defunct so their value will only go up.

I regret not picking those NoShame boxsets up before they started selling for silly money.

Colour me interested, although I need to slow the spending so that's going to top of to buy list (although I'll be buying it sooner rather than later). Really want that set too. Anyone here recommend footprints? Sounds interesting, and been a shameless DVD is cheap as chips.

Footprints is one of my favourite Shameless releases. Even though it's generally considered a giallo, it certainly isn't what you'd expect from the genre.

It's more of a tale of madness, as you watch Bolkan's slow decline into insanity. Very dream-like and surreal - a gem of film in my opinion.

Footprints is an odd one really. I had never heard of it before its Shameless release, some say its a giallo, i'm not so sure though.

Its not very exciting, no blood or nudity, or black gloved killers' and only rates a 12 certificate.

It does have ATMOSPHERE by the bucketload, oh and spacemen on a beach.

I did like it, and would recomend it as an oddity, definetely not one for the Hostel / Saw enthusiast though.

Some gialli have very brutal murders, whereas Footprints doesn't , that was my meaning.

The New York Ripper is most certainly for the Hostel / Saw brigade for example.

I know.

I't would definitely be interesting to find out what the new generation of Hostel and Saw fanboys made of some of these classic gialli, though.

Another couple of gialli that are well worth checking out for anyone who hasn't seen them, are The Perfume of the Lady in Black and The Cold-Blooded Beast (AKA Slaughter Motel). Not at the top of most people's favourite giallo lists, but I love both of them.

I'm also a big fan of Martino's Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key - I actually prefer it to Mrs Wardh.
