Which Horror movies would make good 3D remakes?

Cult Labs are helping to promote Shock Labyrinth, a new 3D Japanese horror movie which you can find out about in the link above. When I work on these promotions, I end up thinking about the films 24-7 so as I pondered the 3D atmosphere of Shock Labyrinth I began to wonder...

Which classic horror movies could be turned into great 3D remakes?

Let's leave aside arguments about blasphemy and sacred cows and imagine an ideal situation where a director wants to make an exacting homage to the original rather than a title only travesty with a teenage rent-a-victim cast. Our fictional director understands and loves the source material and wants to recreate the look, sounds and feel of the much loved classic, wishing only to expand the horror into the third dimension.

I would have been annoyed at this question had Alexandre Aja's excellent Piranha remake not occurred!

I also thought that My Bloody Valentine 3D was far better than I could ever have expected (with fine 3D effects too).

So...how about...

Squirm
Tremors
Braindead
(flying viscera!)
an Alien installment (3D Facehuggers, of course!)
The Birds (that is getting remade isn't it?)

Phantasm is ripe for it. Silver balls flying directly at your skull.

One of the Killer Bees films.

Ooooh! Arachnophobia!!!

The Shining would be good, particularly when the kid is tricycling around the corridors of the hotel or during the final chase around the maze. All the blood spilling from the lift would look nice too.

Hmmm....

Off the top of my head:

Demons
The Evil Dead
Hellraiser

I hate 3D movies but I would totally go see The Evil Dead in 3D...

Nice choice in The Shining.

3D still finds it's self at the waggle things about in the foreground stage a lot of the time but then they have a fairly undemanding audience who think that the Saw movies count as real films (as opposed to gored up episodes of CSI without the budget).

3D will become more effective once it's seemlessly intergrated with the plot. Shock Labyrinth is perfect for 3D, as it deals in ghosts, dark corridors and, like a lot of J-Horror, man-made objects, seemingly innocent objects, fetishized as conduits of evil. Ghostly yarns in 3D make a lot of sense..

That's just it...the plot suffers.
I have no fancy equipment in my apartment, a 10 year old crappy television that I bought for $75 dollars and an Internet connection. I would rather watch a movie with the poorest quality picture and sound if it was GOOD.

But that river of blood coming down the hallway at poor little Danny...now THAT would be awesome.
