Shiver Of The Vampires Encore release

On my Encore dvd of Shiver Of The Vampires the image cuts out and the screen go's completely black for several seconds.

It's the scene, just a few minutes in to the film, where the camera is panning up the wall of the castle. (while the groovy music plays.)

On the Redemption dvd this doesn't happen. So it's definately not deliberate.

I know several seconds doesn't sound like much but I paid over £30 for this, thinking it was going to be the ultimate collectors edition! I don't want a DVD where the image is black for about 30 seconds! It also happens on the second disc.

So I'm wondering if every copy of Shiver Of The Vampires from Encore has this same problem. I've emailed them and they say they've had no complaints.

Does anyone on here have this Encore release? And if so, does the same thing happen on your disc?

Hey Chucky, I have the Encore release and my copy is fine.

Sounds like it could be a one-off case, unfortunately. :(

Thanks for the reply.

I keep meaning to send the disc's back and be sent replacements but I keep forgeting.

The other day I bought a bubble wrap envelope to send back Shiver Of The Vampires.

The next day I was on the DVD compare site and noticed the Encore release is said to have 9 seconds of footage missing.

So, it isn't just my copy, it's every copy of Shiver Of The Vampires from Encore.

Typical i'd find out just a day after buying an envelope to send it back.

It's ridiculous this happens on the release. the film is fine on the Redemption label. Theres no reason why it shouldn't have been fine on Encore's.

You don't pay for a film for it to go black for several seconds.

That is strange...

Tim Lucas shared these images on FB via someone from Kino, from a folder entitled "Scenes from the Day Job." Mighty gorgeous!

A couple of those are some surreal, disturbing images.

Especially the last one. Reminds me of The Shining.

I never quite got why they needed 3 discs. All single layer. They could have put all the extras on one disc.

I think the Encore Shiver Of The Vampires release only has two discs. Which is quite strange as the other Jean Rollin Encore releaes have three.

Chucky 29th September 2011 02:52 AM

I wonder if Jean Rollin noticed the screen go black for several seconds when he was recording his audio commentary for the film.

It's very strange that the film's very own director saw the film before release and yet it was still released that way.
