Default Canadian Horror

Not certain where exactly to post this...so if a mod has a better idea?

This is the place to discuss the wonders of Canadian horror.

Here's a little list of my favorite Canuck horrors.
I may have to add some more later...

Black Christmas (1974)
The Brood (1979)
Cannibal Girls (1973)
Curtains (1983)
The Dark Hours (2005)
Deathdream (1974)
Fido (2006)
Ghostkeeper (1981)
Ginger Snaps (2000)
Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004)
Ginger Snaps Back (2004)
Happy Birthday to Me (1981)
Humongous (1982)
The Mask (1961) would love to see the original theatrical version...
My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Prom Night (1980)
Rabid (1977)
Rituals (1977)
Scanners (1981)
Seizure (1974)
Shivers (1975)
Terror Train (1980)
Videodrome (1983)
Demoncrat likes this.

Nice to see Cronenberg heavily represented.

But, I see Shivers is absent from your list; my favourite Cronenberg film after Videodrome.

I'm also a big Bob Clark fan, with Black Christmas and Deathdream high up on my favourite horror list. I also really like his odd zombie dark comedy: Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things.

Anyone remember a canadian horror called sweet angel mine?

It came out on vhs about ten years ago then dissapeared completely. It was rather good.

Also, aside from cronenberg, how about the classic nasty visiting hours? That was a great movie.

UK/Canadian co-production (seems Optimum co-produced),never seen it and can't find a trailer...

I haven't seen Visiting Hours yet,but expect to remedy that soon.

I wish i'd kept a vhs tape of sweet angel mine, definately due a re-issue somewhere down the line...

Visiting hours is a cracking film, you must see it.

As for other canadian stuff, I must confess to enjoying Cannibal girls, and the wonderful sci-fi classic series Lexx, now out in a spiffy box set!.

One episode at least was directed by jorge buttergeit (it was a german co-production) the ultra twisted epsiode called 791.

Strange that it is, due to Clarke's other productions being Canadian.

Other Canadian films worth a mention are the Cube series - a decent trio of movies with some creative traps and gore as well as some intelligent writing behind them, too.
