Was it? I read that it was cockfighting somewhere, the info was obviously wrong.

Sounds like a very disturbing scene - 4m showing dogs attacking live chickens.

It would have been helpful if the BBFC had given details of the cuts on their website.

A mate was watching the uncut version when I saw him a while back. There's a scene at the plantation where the wild dogs are chasing and killing a bunch of chickens which are being dragged behind cars. Genuine stuff and thoroughly unpleasant. I'm not 100% sure if this was the cut but I can't see what else it could have been.

I didn't watch the whole film (over 2 hrs and pretty boring), so I didn't see any cockfighting footage.

This from the IMDB under its title Hak Gam (1997):-
Large-scale blockbuster from director Michael Mak, unusual for its up-front exploration of Triad involvement in Taiwanese politics. Stand-out action set-pieces include a chaotic shoot-out in a crowded marketplace between Lau's men and a group of would-be assassins, and a large-scale riot on the streets of Taipei as taxi drivers stage a huge strike commissioned by Leung for nefarious purposes. Look out, too, for an audacious sequence in which Lau and his cohorts struggle to prevent a character from being attacked by snapping Alsatians, though this scene is compromised by images of horrific animal cruelty (chickens are dragged behind speeding vehicles and savaged by the rampaging dogs, for real), resulting in this scene being completely removed from British prints.

had a qick scan through and couldnt see these mentioned so...

what about the Guinea Pig series, ive only seen Flowers of Flesh & Blood.
Was probably the grimmest film ive seen so far. 40 minutes of pure torture.
Interesting history behind these flicks aswell ive read.

The "Guinea Pig" series of films aren't too bad when set against some of the appalling (in terms of violence/gore/general morality) underground stuff that's come after it, the August Underground series for an example. In fact, as interesting as the first two are (the rest being gory certainly, but bringing storylines and a certain black humour into the mix), I'd suggest that something like Cannibal Holocaust, or some of the mondo films mentioned in this thread far surpass Za Ginipiggu in terms of pure nastiness.

The Charlie Sheen story always raises a smile though.

Yeah, then there's the 'Guts of a Vrigin' films and whatnot - and a weird one by the lad who went on to make STACEY. I can't remember the title, but it's something like EAT THE GIRL?

How about the All Night Long films, they make for nasty viewing!
