I haven't seen the film you mentioned I'm afraid. There must be loads of films more disturbing than Beyond the Darkness, it's just the ideas in the film I find a bit sick. Some of the FX aren't bad either, especially the gutting of the dead girlfriend and the scene where young Frank extracts her brains through tubes inserted in her nose. The acid bath and crematorium scenes are quite nasty too. It's certainly my favourite flick from D'Amato.

For me it has to be Sadomaster, one of only three films i've ever turned off.....not really sick (tho' it tries it's best) more mind numbingly shite......

I love "Buio Omega". The worse scene for me is Iris slurping her gruel just after
disposing of the hitchhiker!

It is a quite depressing film, but there's plenty of Italian randomness too,
like cops getting bribed with a stuffed squirrel!

I know what you mean, whatever that was Iris was eating looked disgusting. And just after hacking up a body with a meat cleaver and disposing of the body parts in an acid bath, she certainly looked like she had more of a stomach for it than Frank.

Just me that finds Iris' eating habits vaguely erotic then?

I haven't yet seen Angst, but Gaspar Noe often sings its praises in interviews, describing it as a "much more baroque Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer".

rewatched, Angst last night and it really is a depressing film but it kind of drags you in and spits you out. a pity there is no english friendly release out there, but it's not a film to watch for the dialogue anyway.

Not really compareable to Henry( as someone who has a huge interest in serial killers anyway, i hate that film with a vengeance) except it's about someone on a killing spree. reminded me more of Mosquito the Rapist. lots of decent gore to keep the gorehounds happy.
