I quite liked The Wolfman. :bolt:

I taught The Wolfman was a great film. It kept a really nice atmosphere with great choice of actors.

I must admit when it first came out i was'nt impressed,I think its mis-cast and plodding in parts,Anthony Hopkins does his usual whisper/shout/whisper/shout acting style, and Benico just seems out of place, but recent viewings have warmed me to the film, the effects are great, the werewolf scenes are very cool and its just good to see Rick Bakers name on a horror film again, plus the village scenes outside were shot just down the road in Castle Combe,so I think time has been good to the film, either that or the older I get the less fussy im getting :)

Sometimes films are just to be taken at face value and enjoyed, not scrutinized, pulled apart and compared to classics. :)

Sometimes that is easier said than done

When I was studying film at college and university, I was taught to do just that - look 'beyond the film', look at the 'mis-en-scene', look at camera angles, look at the lighting, look at the editing, listen to the music - to such an extent that for many years, the actual plot was lost to me

In a way thats quite sad really.

The majority of films we discuss on here are, to be truthful, badly made shite.

It (The Horror genre esp) can be quite depressing at times, wading through so much crap trying to find another favourite, it's no wonder so many of us watch the same films time and time again.

This is a tough one! I probably don't have a single over all favourite, but I sure do have favourites... also not think this thread is kind of sadistic?

So to mention a few of my favourite death/kill scenes... I've got to say this one! Not read all the thread, but I'm sure someone has mentioned it - The Burning, and the raft scene. Actually there's some good kills in The Burning which I like. Hmmm, let's thing of a few others..

House by the Cemetery where the babysitter gets her throat cut 3 or 4 times!

The New York Ripper and the infamous razor blade kill scene :D

The Toolbox Murders nailgun scene :)

There's lots more but I can never remember when I need to! :(

Demoncrat 7th June 2012 09:57 AM

One of my favourites is in a Lars von Trier film, but as it's a major part of the plot........

You hit the nail on the head there.I haven't been buying too many horror films recently as I think I've almost got all the films I really love in my collection already. There's an awful lot of crap out there which I wouldn't dream of wasting my time watching.

Hawkmonger 7th June 2012 02:38 PM

Certainly. People must have to go through alot of Dr.Chopper's to find one Texas Chainsaw Massacre if you get what i'm saying.

Not really.

But once you realise that, then all Lewis's films become fun.

Hawkmonger 10th June 2012 02:10 PM

Only seen the two Blood Feast films from Mr Lewis but I enjoyed them well enough. I'll see when I have the spare change.

Pick a death, any death, doesn't matter really, they are all the same, just a case of picking your favourite girl.

Easier said than done - some of the ugliest 'whores' ever to grace film! ;)

I can't look at those stills without inappropriate '80s porn style music going round in my head, either :D

Hawkmonger 11th June 2012 08:02 PM

There's alot of Herchel-Gordon Lewis on this thread of late......

Demdike@Cult Labs 11th June 2012 09:29 PM

The problem with Blood Feast is the gore is extremely clear to see it has just been laid on top of the victims body.

Makes Mardi Gras Massacre look like an all time classic.
