For the past couple of years i have made sure that all of October is my Halloweenfest, and watch nothing but horror for the whole month.

I tend to watch classic films though. I will probably watch a couple of Val Lewton films (I Walked with a Zombie, Cat People, The Bodysnatcher, Isle of the Dead, The Seventh Victim)

A few Hammer films (The Devil Rides Out, The Witches, To the Devil a Daughter)

Maybe one or two Universal classics.

It all tends to culminate in me watching some Halloween films along with the superb Trick r' treat and will end with me watching Halloween 3 on the 31st, as i don't own it yet and have its re-release preordered.

Society is a great over-the-top splatter feast that's great to watch with friends while drinking beer! I also recommend Return of the Living Dead because it's just plain awesome.

Once again, many thanks for all your suggestions! You have all given me plenty food for thought. One that I forgot about but am seriously thinking about is the magnificent Flesh for Frankenstein. Now, if only I could watch it in 3D!

A mainstream movie that has an ott style is The Burbs.

It's the first movie that came to mind when you said OTT.

I know it's probably not quite what you mean though.

I'd recommend

Child's Play 2
Bride Of Chucky
Dawn Of The Dead
Day Of The Dead
Zombie Flesh Eaters (it has a zombie fighting a shark!)
Possibly Zombie Flesh Eaters sequals as well.
Re-animator
Bad Taste
Evil Dead 1 & 2
Brain Damage

There's probably lods I'm not thinking of...

Something like BLUE SUNSHINE could be fun. Not particularly horrific or gory but using the single-line synopsis of 'bald maniacs on acid' should be enough to wet anyone's appetite.

I don't know about Blue Sunshine, but Jeff Lieberman's previous film Squirm may be ideal for a Halloween showing. Thanks Blob for reminding me about him.

How about the Arrow DVDs of Island of Death and Street Trash? Suitably OTT I think you'd agree.

Thanks Vampix! I was thinking about Street Trash, but as for IOD? Well just put it this way, I don't think a few of my mates would speak to me again if the saw that.
