What was the First Horror Movie you Saw?
Do you remember that first real horror movie you first seen and where you watched it. I remember seeing the evil dead and being scared of out my mind, and then always wanted to see it again, but never lasting to the end.

I was introduced to horror films at a really early age (thanks Dad! ) so I can't really remember what was the first. I do remember being really creeped out by ALIEN, DR TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORROR'S and THE HAUNTING. |

I used to watch the BBC2 double bills on Saturday nights when my gran babysat, on my portable black and white tv. They tended to show a classic Universal monster film followed by a Hammer film, or others on those lines. The first video i ever rented was Scanners on Betamax. Never seen it since. |

Possibly The Birds. It was Hammer films that were my indoctrination though - thank you BBC2!

It would have been either a Universal or Hammer movie on TV.

Earliest memory would be Carnival of Souls on one of those Saturday afternoon creature double features...during the rest of the afternoon I felt really unsettled even though it was still light out. Night time would be the Richard Matheson/Dan Curtis Trilogy of Terror TV movie with Karen Black and the Zuni fetish doll. I was about 8 or 9 an just after Karen Black's creepy close up at the end when she's stabbing the carpet waiting for Mom...I was told to go upstairs (by myself) take my bath, and go to bed! I can't describe how difficult that overnight was for me, but let's just say it was the opposite of Xmas Eve. |

Just thought of an earlier one...a Mexican Film from the 50's called 'Curse of the Doll People'. It's about a voo-doo curse put on these transgressing explorers upon returning home, that causes these dead people to shrink to dwarf size an seek revenge. Just tracked it down again about 7 years ago an it's ridiculous. But there was nothing funny about those little doll men running around with needles when I was a kid. Can't remember the first ever one, but it was probably a Hammer or Universal one, as I do remember having a hard time choosing between Dracula & Frankenstein costume sets. I do remember Amicus' ASYLUM freaking me out at a very young age - the story with the body parts coming back to life. But it was Halloween swiftly followed by the first 2 Friday the 13th's that sealed the deal though and made me a fan for life.
