Signs itself is the scariest thing in cinemas. Shockingly bad. |

I'm not just going to mock Kyle's choice though without throwing a scene in myself. I would pick the bedroom door scene in the 1963 classic The Haunting. Its impossible to show the clip and it have the same effect out of the entire films context though. For those who don't know it, it just involves sound effects stark black and white photography, door handles moving, doors being creaked and the reactions of the two actresses (Julie Harris and Claire Bloom) in the room. |

This had me checking my bedroom curtains were well and truly shut for weeks after seeing it on TV for the first time.

Probably the final scene of Carrie. I must've been about 11 or 12 when I first saw it and it totally shat me up! The Salem's Lot window kid is a good one but Barlow in the jail cell is also pretty scary at 11! An honourable mention to Ringu too. I remember being told about it and then watching it on my own, spending most of it thinking it's not particulalry scary.. until the TV scene! Oh.. and the end of Race With The Devil.. There's bloody loads when I actually think about it and the films I saw when I was a kid... |
