Robin Hardy's The Fantasist

After creating one of cinema's greatest 'horror' masterpieces with The Wicker Man, it's no surprise that Robin Hardy may have struggled to create something that lives us to this momentous movie. However, with the recent exception of The Wicker Tree (and the upcoming third entry into the series), Hardy has only made one other film. A truly forgotten little film that goes by the name of The Fantasist.

So, who here has seen this film? What did you make of it?

From what I've read, it sounds rather interesting with some potentionally very unsettling and disturbing scenes.

So if you've seen it, share your thoughts here...

I'm very fond of this film and think it is under-rated. It does suffer hugely from a dreadfully miscast lead actress who gives an awful performance (Moira Harris) and from an overly convoluted script, but it's nonetheless a decent watch.

I seen The Fantasist on DVD and I have to say it was a mess. I tries to be like a Polanski film but only Polanski can make a Polanski film.

There's a strange edit where it cut like a Roeg film where it cut the first murder and slicing some beef.

I remember reading an article about how The Wicker Man was nothing more than a fluke compare to this film.
