Default Splatter Movies From Down Under

Hi everyone

Over the years, there's been some awesome and gruesome splatter movies from down under. The most obvious being Peter Jackson's early trio of insane movies, along with a few other great Ozploitation titles.

But, what are the greatest of these splatter must-sees? Check out our map of the very best below (click it for the interactive trailer version)...

Are there any bloody movies we're missing? How many of these have you seen? Show off your splatter knowledge with a one-line review of each...

It's all to celebrate the new release of the latest splatter movie from below, Wyrmwood - a crazy mix of Mad Max 2 and Braindead! Click here for more info on Wyrmwood

That movie looks great apart from the lady controlling zombies part, i would watch that.

I grew up on Bad Taste and Braindead so i can't be more grateful to Peter Jackson for those films but he isn't an Auzzy so i don't see his film's in the same light as Oz movies.
Apart from the Proposition and Cars that ate Paris i haven't seen many Oz films, i loved the Undeadmovie with the guy who had a triple shotgun. I need to find more Oz films and enjoy the movies they put out.

My faves amongst these have to be: Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, Braindead, Turkey Shoot and Mad Max 2.
I wonder when we'll get the long awaited Blu-ray special editions of Peter Jackson's splatter trilogy.
Turkey Shoot is another Ozploitation classic that's in desperate need of a BD release.

I love Oz films there are quite a few I have not seen yet but what I have I loved they always have a real gritty dirty feeling that really appeals to me.

Noticed Primal on the chart. That's well worth a watch.

Black Sheep and Undead are also a lot of fun. Actually Undead is a bit of a mind boggling genre hopping masterpiece.

I might give either that or Primal another watch this evening.

I know it's not really a splatter, but I liked the Australian cannibal film Dying Breed, and both Wolf Creek movies.

If you can stretch the definition to 'creature features', I thoroughly enjoyed both Rogue and Black Water.

The Horseman

Whilst not quite a splatter film per se, tis a gruelling watch imo.

Haven't seen very many, but I will say that THE LOVED ONES ranks among my favorite horror films of the last few years. That movie was just brilliant, and the lead was one of the scariest villains I've seen in a horror film in quite some time.
