Valentine.

I am an 80s kid that grew up on a diet of horror and was fed slasher films but the spoonful. When Valentine came about and was exactly like the cheesy 80s slasher flicks I was hoping it would bring in a bunch more cheesy slashers but sadly it didnt.

I also enjoyed Scream 4.

Have to admit I always had a soft spot for valentine, but then I did enjoy a lot of the late 90's-noughties slasher flicks that came out post scream. I always felt the critisism of them being generic sort of missed the point a little as familiarity with the structures of this sub genre is always part of the charm.

I liked Valentine and most of the Scream-alikes too, Urban Legend is great I think, especially the ever creepy Brad Dourif! Cherry Falls isn't bad either

Finally people that get it!!! I almost forgot Cherry Falls, that one was a fun film.

I consider the Urban Legend, the slasher duo of films, to be up there with some of the big 90s slasher wave. A sadly shortly lived period.

Anyone remember DISTURBING BEHAVIOUR?

It was a total unashamed rip-off of STRANGE BEHAVIOR (aka DEAD KIDS) directed by Michael Laughlin but it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately it didn't pinch Stange behaviours Tangerine dream soundtrack!

Is that the one starring Katie Holmes and T3 era John Connor?

Well I'm guilty of that, esp in regards to Scream, because of it's smug attitude, it tries to be so clever, yet soon falls upon the same cliques of the old slasher films it mocks.

JMO

I didn't mind the first Urban Legend though.

i saw that on tv ages ago and didn't thionk much of it
maybe because the MPAA butchered the film
