Don’t expect a masterpiece from the Universal vaults! That’s my advice for this flick – if you lower your expectations just a little bit, you’ll find it entertaining, despite its flaws. It has quite a slow pace, and you won’t see Karloff as often as in his trademark Universal roles.
And don’t look for Shakespearean dialogues – you won’t find them. But it has funny parts in it (some of them unintentional, though), a nice cast, very moody cinematography, and let’s be honest – a film from the 30s, starring KARLOFF, who could resist?
